Bobby Brown turned the big 5-0 recently and continues to defy his age with an impressive physique. Considering the personal and health challenges he faced in the last couple of years, Brown’s resolve to stay healthy is highly commendable.

Robert “Bobby” Brown once seemed to have it all, until he lost the love of his life, Whitney Houston, and their daughter and his life seemed to come apart. Piling on several pounds was a by-product of those turbulent times, but the singer/rapper appears to be back on the fit and healthy track.

In several pictures and videos on his Instagram page, Brown can be seen sporting a slimmer frame and giving fans a glimpse of the 1980s Bobby Brown.

That must have been a wake-up call for Brown

One picture from early March shows Brown sound-checking the mic before a Miami concert. The “My Prerogative” singer rocked a grey T-shirt and skinny black jeans, keeping his appearance more hip with black sneakers and a matching baseball hat worn backward.

In another photo, the hip-hop/R&B legend posed with his RBRM band members, Ronnie Devoe, Ricky Bell, and Michael Bivins, during an appearance on GMA’s “Strahan and Sara.”

Performing on stage across the country may have something to do with Brown’s dramatic weight loss, but the most credit reportedly goes to the singer for taking the initiative to halt his life's downward spiral.

When Brown lost his 22-year-old daughter, Bobbi Kristina, in 2015, he was still recovering from her mother, Whitney Houston’s 2012 death; it also did not help that Bobbi Kristina died in eerily similar circumstances as Houston.

Brown previously admitted that he and Whitney regularly abused drugs during their tumultuous marriage and when their daughter died, he reportedly suffered a relapse. It was during that time that he also added a ton of weight, reportedly weighing almost 300 pounds in 2016.

With the weight gain came health problems: alleged “intestinal” issues and insanely high blood pressure and cholesterol levels. That must have been a wake-up call for Brown, who at the time had his current wife, Alicia Etheredge-Brown, and their growing family to think of.

The “Don’t Be Cruel” hitmaker is said to have adopted a strict organic diet and began working out regularly, eventually losing about 100 pounds.

Today, Brown and his wife have three kids, nine-year-old son Cassius Brown, three-year-old Bodhi Rein Brown, and two-year-old Hendrix Estelle Brown.
