During Monday's episode of the daytime show, the “Sister Act” star while addressing the issue made a comment that defended Barbara saying:
"I know Barbara Fedida, and I don’t think she’s a racist. Everything I know about her doesn’t say that she has this in her."
The Emmy winner then proposed an independent investigation into the claims explaining that she knew how it felt to be falsely accused, but not before acknowledging efforts towards eliminating systemic racism.
The article claims that, in 2018, during a contract renewal negotiation for Robin Roberts, Fedida said, "it wasn’t as if the network was asking Roberts to pick cotton."
BET shares that ABC News has placed the top Executive on administrative leave following the release of the reports and will also commence an internal investigation.
“Good Morning America” weekend anchors are, on the other hand, reportedly showing undisputed support for fellow anchor Robin Roberts.
Fox News reports that co-anchors Whit Johnson, Dan Harris, and Eva Pilgrim expressed solidarity with Roberts while addressing the alarming allegations that shook ABC News over the weekend.
The allegations against Fedida first surfaced after Huffington Post’s Yashar Ali released a report that credited 34 sources willing to speak on suspected ill-treatment of black journalists and colleagues in ABC Network.
According to the outlet, Fedida currently holds the senior vice president, talent, and business position, and her role includes overseeing the organization’s diversity and inclusion status.
The article claims that, in 2018, during a contract renewal negotiation for Robin Roberts, Fedida said, "it wasn’t as if the network was asking Roberts to pick cotton,” when it seemed the anchor was not pleased with the deal.
Other insensitive remarks termed racist slurs were also highlighted, including the incident with correspondent Mara Schiavocampo, who was reportedly offered a financial settlement and made to sign a nondisclosure agreement.
