Veteran Couple Gets Surprise of a Lifetime Learning Their Mortgage Has Been Fully Paid Off

A couple who served their country as Marines got the surprise of their lives this month when their home's mortgage was paid off. Both of them were overcome with emotion after hearing the news.

In Jacksonville, North Carolina, a Marine couple turned on their television and got an unexpected message. They learned that they no longer owed any money on their house's mortgage.

Mario and Amy Perez, who served in the Marine Corps for more than ten years, were lauded as courageous and honorable veterans. They didn't think this honor would come with many benefits, but it did.

THEY FOUND THE PERFECT HOME

A retired master sergeant explained that the man was an exceptional Marine. Tony Johnson shared:

"Marine Corps values: Honor, courage, and commitment. The hard thing is to live by it, and that's one thing that Mario has done."

After months of looking for a place that would be perfect for their family, the couple found a home. They owed a lot of money on the property, but Veterans United Home Loans stepped up to help them.

SHOCKED BY THE GENEROSITY

Veterans United Home Loans repaid the money owed, and the couple was shocked by the generosity. Their Camp Lejuene home was now theirs, and the news was delivered in an extra special way.

Friends of the couple, along with a marching band, unexpectedly told them about the exciting news. Mario was tearful as he said: "It's unreal to even think that. I mean, I never would've thought anything like this--I'm out of words."

THEY DESERVED IT

The mortgage company has big plans to help even more families who served in the military. They want to pay for 11 home loans, and the 11th family will be selected randomly based on nominations from the public.
