Man Grieves Love of His Life He Lost Decades Prior, Bartender Stuns Him by Easily Finding Her on Facebook

A Canadian man fell for his high school sweetheart, but they kept their relationship a secret from her strict parents. She disappeared without a trace, leading the man to mourn their relationship years later, only to find out she was alive and might be the mother of his child!

In October 2023, a TikTok user took to the platform to share a crazy story about an incident at a job she had been working at a few years prior. The woman was a bartender in 2012 when a man walked in looking disheveled and clearly upset about something. He sat down at the bar and asked her to pour him a strong drink.

While getting him his drink, the original poster (OP) asked the man what was wrong. The client confessed that that very day was always tough for him because it was the anniversary of when he lost the love of his life 30 years before.

Since it was a slow night with only a few local people playing pool, OP had the perfect opportunity to listen to his story and satiate her curiosity.

She asked the man to tell her more and explain how he lost the woman he thought he would have forever with. The man obliged and told her that he and his girlfriend had a fantastic relationship, but they had to keep it a secret.

The secrecy was necessary because the girlfriend's parents were very strict and religious. However, the stranger and his girlfriend were very much in love and planned on running off together to elope. One day, he dropped her off at her parent's house after having a great date, and they said goodbye.

To his confusion, he didn't hear anything from her the following day, and this went on for a while. He eventually called her parents' house, but nobody answered. Not giving up, he continued calling for days until weeks passed. The man was left heartbroken and confused by his girlfriend's sudden disappearance.

He couldn't understand why she'd ghost him like that without saying anything, especially since everything had seemed fine on their last date. Then, weeks later, as he was about to give up on her, his girlfriend's mother finally picked up the ringing phone.

Concerned, he asked where his girlfriend was and if she was okay, since he hadn't heard from her in a long time. His girlfriend's mom shocked him by not answering his questions but demanding sternly that he never call their house again.

She also told him not to show up at their house, promising to call the police if he did. Finally, she hung up the phone, leaving the worried boyfriend even more confused. Being a young man at that point, he didn't want to get arrested, and since there was nothing he could do to remedy the situation, he decided to move on with his life. Although he never forgot the love of his life.

Wholly invested in the story, OP asked where this all happened. The patron revealed it was in West Vancouver, with the bartender noting that that wasn't far from Surrey, where the man currently lived.

She asked him if he'd ever reached out to her ever since, and he answered, "No, I have no idea what happened." OP then asked why he didn't look her up on Facebook, but the man in his 50s didn't know about the social media platform.

The TikTok user pulled out her phone and asked for the man's ex-girlfriend's name, offering to look her up on the platform. After scrolling through a couple of people with the same name, OP found someone who is based in West Vancouver and showed the man the picture, asking if it was the right person. He replied in astonishment:

"Oh my God, that's her."

The man had a look of disbelief on his face as he stared at the photo of the love of his life. The woman's profile was locked, and only a few things were visible, but the man at the bar was still shocked. One of the things he could see was that she had a daughter.

The man said he considered reaching out to the pair before leaving the bar.

When OP went to the daughter's profile, she noticed the younger woman had just celebrated her 29th birthday. That information gave OP pause, and she pulled up one of the girl's pictures. To her surprise, the woman looked exactly like the man in the bar!

The TikToker showed the man what she saw, and he lost it and started crying! It dawned on them that the man had probably been banned from seeing his girlfriend all those years ago because she got pregnant with his baby and her parents disapproved of him.

So they kept it a secret and kept him out of his child's life. In a follow-up video, OP revealed that the shocked man finished his drink before she showed him how to use Facebook's search bar so he could go look his ex-girlfriend up on his own.

The man said he considered reaching out to the pair before leaving the bar. Shortly after that incident, OP stopped working at the bar and never saw the man again but never stopped wondering what happened next.

To try to find the man, OP shared everything she could remember about him and his story. She also shared what she could recall about the man's possible daughter. TikTok users were enthralled by OP's tale and many left comments below the first clip.

"That's so sad if it actually is his daughter," someone wrote.

"So, did he get to meet her?? Did he get in contact with his old gf?? I need closure," another viewer lamented.

Responding to the follow-up video, someone said, "That's literally so sad, she was still the love of his life after that long and potentially missed out on having a happy family :( ."

People in the comment sections were very invested in the story, with some people mentioning that OP could check her Facebook history to see what she searched for 11 years ago! One person was so intrigued by the story he wrote, "Please TikTok, I have never asked you for anything before but please find this man for me."
