It has become a tradition for Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade to feature artists who lip-sync to their songs. However, one singer wasn’t having it this year.

Kelly Clarkson actually sang a track from her album. Fans who noticed took to social media to praise and thank the star.

Kelly Clarkson, 36, actually sang live during her performance of “Heat” which is from her “Meaning of Life” album. She also took to social media to share her excitement at performing at the event.

She jokingly wrote:

“I’m thankful I get to perform on the coldest freaking Thanksgiving ever…live!”

Earlier in the day, fans took to social media to call out John Legend and British pop-star Rita Ora for lip syncing during their performances. However, lip syncing is actually a norm at the parade.

Legend took to social media to clear up the confusion:

"Fun fact. We all have to lip sync on this parade because the floats don't have the capacity to handle the sound requirements for a live performance."

Legend added:

"Hope y'all enjoyed it anyway. Know that if you come to my shows, the vocals are 100% live!"

So, the fact that Clarkson wasn’t on a float is what made her live performance possible. Clarkson also tweeted a thank you message after the show.

She wrote:

"So my toes finally have feeling back in them… that was a very cold Thanksgiving moment! I’ve been beggin’ the Lord for winter, and well, he answered. #MacysDayParade thanks for having us! So thankful and appreciative for all the blessings in my life! Y’all have a good one!..."

Earlier this month while exercising Clarkson took to social media to joke about her routine. She wrote:

"This just in… I still hate working out. I’m sweaty, red, and not any thinner. People say it’s good for your heart… but people also say red wine is good for your heart. I mean, I’m just stating facts here people. Who am I to ignore science?! #cardioversuswine.”
