Patrick Swayze dancing with his wife to a Whitney Houston song still bewitches us after years

Iconic actor Patrick Swayze and his wife still melted hearts with their incredible performance of Whitney Houston’s classic hit at an awards show.

Patrick danced on stage with Lisa Niemi during the World Music Awards in 1994. The couple moved the audience to tears with their performance of Houston’s “All The Man That I Need.”

Patrick and Lisa fell in love at a dance studio. At the time, her mother was taking a dance class from his mother. When he proposed to her, Patrick was only 18 while Lisa was 14.

A HEART-WRENCHING PERFORMANCE

The heartfelt dance number was their first time to dance on international television. Their performance proved just how blessed the couple was when it comes to dancing.

Patrick and Lisa showed not only skills but also passion, as they entertained the audience during the event that honored Houston, who died in February 2012.

They married on June 12, 1975, and were together until the actor's death on September 14, 2009. Patrick died from pancreatic cancer.

A MAN OF MANY TALENTS

Born in Houston, Texas, Patrick had moved to New York City in 1972 to complete his formal dance training at the Harkness Ballet and Joffrey Ballet schools. He went on to become an accomplished dancer, singer, and actor.

As an actor, he starred in films from different genres, including drama, war films, and post-war apocalyptic films.

Among the movies he starred in were "Red Dawn," "Youngblood," "The Outsiders," and "Steel Dawn."

He also sang the power ballad "She's Like the Wind" from the low-budget film, "Dirty Dancing." The song topped the adult contemporary charts.

He played his breakthrough role - as a dance instructor - in that film, which tells a coming of age story. The movie became a surprise hit, achieving massive international success.

Throughout his career, Patrick received three Golden Globe Award nominations and was named by People magazine as its "Sexiest Man Alive" in 1991. In 2009, he was honored with the Rolex Dance Award.
