Bill and Mckenna Medley Impressed the Audience with Countrified Version of ‘Time of My Life‘
“(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” was the Academy Award-winning song from the cult classic “Dirty Dancing,” which Bill Medley and his daughter recently performed in a charming country style.
Originally sung as a duet with Jennifer Warnes, the single “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1987 for one week.
Medley is best known for being one of The Righteous Brothers, the famous American duo with Bobby Hatfield being the other half.
The two had many hit songs together such as “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin,” “Just Once in My Life,” and “Unchained Melody.”
Medley, who had a soothing bass-baritone voice, launched his solo career with songs like the country hit “I Still Do,” and eventually the iconic song for the “Dirty Dancing” soundtrack.
Today, Bill performs with his daughter McKenna who has joined him on tour. The young Medley has been seen on stage with her famous dad since she was just a toddler.
“When I was 1 or 2, my dad was on the ‘Dirty Dancing’ tour, and they say he’d bring me onstage to say hi. I could barely walk, and they put me in a little tuxedo and threw me out there.”
But her first duet with him in concert was at the age of six, so it is no surprise that she ended up with a music career.
The pair recently sang an updated version of the hit song giving it a “country” sound during an episode of “Larry’s Country Diner,” and it was very well-received.
The song will always be associated with the romance between Johnny and Baby, played by Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey, with brilliant choreography to match. Grey called her co-star a “fearless dancer,” but Swayze had another talent, too.
He had a beautiful singing voice that was heard on the song “She’s Like the Wind” which was on the “Dirty Dancing” soundtrack as well.
