'Ghostbusters' Star Melissa McCarthy Explains Actor Husband Ben Falcone's Birthday Gift on 'Ellen'

If one is looking for a gift idea for a spouse, Melissa McCarthy may just be the wrong person to turn to. The actress recently presented her husband a weird present and was on hand to talk about it on Ellen DeGeneres' show.

Actress and comedian, Melissa McCarthy is widely known for bringing viewers and audiences to laughter with her performances; but there would have been more of bewilderment than laughing faces at the sight of the gift she gave to her husband, actor, Ben Falcone on his birthday.

The actress was on Ellen DeGeneres’ show on Tuesday to explain the reasoning behind such a gift.

WHAT GIFT DID MELISSA GET FOR HER HUSBAND?

The weirdly terrifying gift from Melissa to Ben is a painting of them as sad clowns. The painting had Melissa and Ben’s faces side by side, as clowns, with teary eyes and a sombre demeanour.

MELISSA’S THINKING IN GETTING THE GIFT

The 49-year-old has been together with her husband for twenty years and seems to be the one with the weird gift-buying attributes. Melissa explained that having been together for that long, her husband’s gifts have been nicer and more thoughtful, while hers have only been getting weirder.

Melissa pointed to the painting, saying further that she thought about sad clowns. She credited the painters for doing a great job with the artwork, saying that the only note she made halfway through the painting was that the faces should be sadder, and the lines darkened, with the addition of tears here and there.

BEN’S REACTION WHEN HE SAW THE PAINTING

According to Melissa, her husband made a bizarre wheezing noise when he opened the painting. Ben shared a picture of himself and the art on his Instagram page, saying that nothing said Happy 46th birthday like a terrifying sad clown painting, before going on to thank Melissa for it.  As for her daughter’s none of them loved it in any way.

The couple has two daughters, 12-year-old Vivian, and 9-year-old Georgette. Melissa admitted that her daughters were terrified by the painting, Georgette saying the picture wasn’t going to be hanged on the wall.

When Ellen asked if the photo was hanging, Melissa replied that it would be, leaving the audience in fits of laughter. Despite her daughter’s dislike for the painting, Melissa has decided to take things to the next level.

The mother-of-two explained that with Georgette especially disliking the picture, she was going to have her girls painted and hang theirs next to that of Ben.

ELLEN PRESENTS MELISSA ANOTHER PAINTING

The Tuesday episode marked Melissa’s 20th appearance on Ellen’s show, and the host made sure she didn’t leave empty-handed. Ellen handed her guest a clown painting of herself (Ellen), but this time a smiling, happy face, at least not terrifying to the kids.

BEN AND MELISSA’S BEAUTIFUL UNION

Melissa and Ben Falcone are one of Hollywood’s most adorable couple, sharing a relationship that is indeed special. The comedians are a match made in heaven and have known each other for twenty years.

Their friendship started after they met in a comedy class in 1998, and has grown from strength to strength years later. They married in 2005, and have a happy home, two lovely kids, and blistering careers.
