Kelly Clarkson has worked hard to get to where she is now from her days as the first-ever champion on the "American Idol." Indeed, the award-winning pop star and TV star has paid her dues and continues to wow fans with her entertainment exploits.

Through her music, the singer has connected with millions, and like any exceptional entertainer, most of her songs have a backstory related to a true-life event.

Whether it is her story or another person's, the singer knows how well to deliver the message by including her melodious voice and vibrancy in the video.

One of Clarkson's most famous songs that topped the Billboard charts, "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)," from her fifth studio album, written by Ali Lamposi, was a story born out of a heartbreak.

The writer had just ended a seven-year relationship, and while she languished in anger and sadness, she said the magic words "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger," and it became a sensational anthem.

Through her wins—awards and album topping moments, Clarkson had put up a brave front that was nearly unbelievable to fans when she revealed that as a 6-year-old, she suffered abandonment issues from her dad's departure.

However, many years down the line, Clarkson vowed to have a family different and better than what she witnessed, even with the hurt that lingered.

In 2006, the singer met who later became her dream man, Brandon Blackstock, son of her former manager, Narvel Blackstock. Both father and son are in the music business.

At first, the duo did not hit it off, as Blackstock was married. However, six years after their first meeting, when he was a divorcee and Clarkson had evolved into the woman she wanted, they became closer and tied the knot following a brief courtship.

They welcomed two kids, a daughter and a son; for Clarkson, she was a mother to four because she called Blackstock's other kids from his previous marriage her own.

Despite having four kids, the singer often caught the baby fever, explaining that she missed their chubby little hands, feet, and faces.

Everything seemed perfect with these two, and fans were in awe of Clarkson's beautiful home until the singer dropped shocking news.

She and Blackstock had been quarantined with their kids in their Montana estate during the coronavirus period, but at the time, their marriage was already strained. Shortly after the quarantine, the "Stronger" singer filed for divorce, proving her strength as a loving single mother.

KELLY CLARKSON'S DIVORCE AND HER LOST FORTUNE

Clarkson's marriage lasted for seven years, and when it ended, she initially refused to mention the reasons behind it but claimed that it taught her a great deal.

The singer revealed that she was grateful for the lessons her failed marriage taught her. But unfortunately, after admitting the gratitude, a somewhat easy divorce battle between the former partners followed.

At first, Clarkson was ordered to pay $200 for monthly child and spousal support. On top of that, her ex-husband wanted the fortune split 50-50, as he contested the prenup arrangement.

Luckily for the singer, the court did not grant Blackstock's second request. Instead, the court's verdict provided her with the option of receiving her wealth and the Montana family home she purchased.

After the divorce, Clarkson sued her talent agency, "Starstruck Management Group" run by the Blackstock family, claiming that they defrauded her. In retaliation, Narvel denied and sued the singer for owing $1.4 million.

HOW KELLY CLARKSON'S TWO KIDS ARE COPING

Clarkson's love for family, including her kids and stepkids, is still strong despite the separation. Before becoming a mother, she partnered with Blackstock in nurturing his kids, Savannah, born in 2002, and her brother, Seth, born in 2006.

The TV personality was delighted to assume the role, and it was effortless to live up to a mother's responsibility when her biological kids started coming up.

Divorce is never easy for the kids as they have grown to love both parents, and it is no exception with Clarkson's. Amid the court battle, the former lovers wanted their kids to have an easy transition, but it was impossible as they had each other by the neck.

Following the increased tension, the court proposed the best solution by awarding Clarkson primary custody of her daughter, River Rose, and son, Remington, shortly after declaring her single.

However, it did not make it easy for the kids to accept the instant change. The mother-of-two explained that her son's deposition changed since he resumed school and began relating with other kids.

She added that she would hold on to some details because it did not only involve her but the younger ones.

Thankfully, Clarkson has been able to navigate through by giving most of her time to the kids amid a busy schedule. Also, with the help of friends and relatives, she managed the situation better.

The "Stronger" singer revealed that to protect her kids' fragile hearts, she enlisted therapists who could comfort them and explain that being sad is part of living.

BEING A MOTHER TO ALL HER KIDS

Clarkson has maintained a close relationship with her stepkids, apart from caring for her kids. She has always bonded with Savannah, who shares her private affairs with the singer.

Seth is not out of the picture. Clarkson continues to call them and has confessed her wish to still be in their lives and "to remain close with her stepkids."

Last year, the 19-year-old stunned fans after revealing that she would be welcoming a child with her boyfriend, making Blackstock a granddad at 45.

KELLY CLARKSON'S FAMILY HOME BEFORE THE DIVORCE

The former couple spent time creating memories in their $10million L.A farmhouse during their marriage. It was a vast living space with a mansion that possessed eight bedrooms and eleven bathrooms.

The home, purchased in 2018, sits on a 10,000 square-foot mansion with an exquisite kitchen housing state-of-the-art appliances.

Its backyard has a luxurious space for grilling and is equipped with a BBQ station. There is also a king-sized swimming pool and jacuzzi surrounded by a built-in lounge beside the outdoor fire pit and pizza oven.

That's not all; the Encino Woodvale Road farmhouse has a two-story building guest house with two bedrooms and two bathrooms for guests.

After the split, Clarkson, searching for a new beginning, sold the home for $8.24million and purchased a $5.445million mansion modeled after a colonial setting in California. The living space boasts five bedrooms and seven bathrooms and sits on 5,000 square feet.

One of Clarkson's grand properties is her Montana estate, worth $10.5million. This was where the couple was quarantined, and it was bought in 2019.

The singer has yet to put it on the market as her ex-husband refused to vacate the property. He has now changed his profession to a full-time rancher and rodeo sponsor and has yet to fulfill his obligations as a tenant in the home.

WHERE IS THE "STRONGER" SINGER NOW?

Clarkson would not have guessed how much life would throw at her after settling into a perfect family when she married Blackstock. But so far, she has proven herself worthy as a fighter.

In March, the former couple finalized their divorce, and sources claimed that the singer is in a happy place, focusing on her kids and her profession.

Another profound change in her life is the name change. After failing to drop her married last name, the singer expressed her longing to adopt her middle name "Brianne" in legal documents.

These days, Clarkson wants to reinvent herself as a backup singer to different artists. In addition, she intends to explore different genres. Aside from that, the singer has teamed up with rapper Snoop Dogg to co-host NBC's "American Song Contest."
