The reason for Kelly Ripa's absence revealed after she's been missing from the show for a while
Viewers were concerned when Kelly Ripa was absent from the Live With Kelly and Ryan show. Thankfully, there was a reason for her absence.
On March 26, 2018, Ripa shared a photo with her 1.7 million Instagram followers. It showed her husband, Mark Consuelos, in the pool at a holiday resort.
As reported by Closer Weekly, she captioned it 'Coming up for air,' and added the 'no filter' hashtag. Ripa didn't share where they couple was for their vacation.
Instead, she only used the cryptic hashtag 'fantasy island' in another post. Sunday marked the start of their family holiday, and she wrote in the caption that the party has officially started.
She has also been absent from the show for other reasons, including sick days when she'd rather stay at home, or when accompanying her children on a school outing.
Ripa met her husband on the set of All My Children in 1995, and they eloped the following year on May 1, 1996. They have three children, Michael, 20, Lola Grace, 16 and 15-year-old Joaquin.
When Ripa is away from the Live With Kelly and Ryan set, either on holiday or for a family emergency, Ryan Seacrest gets temporary co-hosts to fill her shoes.
In the past, he shared the stage with Cat Deely from So You Think You Can Dance, and Carrie Ann Inaba, who is a judge on Dancing With The Stars.
Ripa and Seacrest have a close bond, and still, communicate when she is away. In 2017, he uploaded a photo of his coffee cup, explaining that it was Ripa's first day away and he 'already forgot to protect [his] cup from the confetti.'
This is Ripa's first holiday of the year. She also took a well-deserved break in June 2017, and again from late July to early August.
