Carrie Underwood gives her husband a kiss after winning CMT Award

The 35-year-old singer and songwriter, Carrie Underwood, received a CMT Award for Female Video of the Year. Her husband was there to show his support.

She kissed Mike Fisher on the cheek and gave him a hug before accepting the award from Joel McHale. This was her 18th CMT win, more than any other country singer. 

The winning music video was Underwood and Ludacris' collaboration, The Champion, which was used for NBC's Super Bowl XXIII Winter Olympic Games. 

She said that the joint effort with Ludacris inspired her. Underwood also thanked God for the opportunity to "do what we get to do," and thanked her fans for their support.

"Whoever went and voted for anybody, just thank you for taking the time. Thank you, Ludacris, for wanting to inspire."

The award-winning video features athletes and military personnel, and Underwood acknowledged their participation during her acceptance speech. 

She thanked "the normal people and the heroes who were in the video for just doing what you do and allowing us to share your story with the world."

She also thanked her fans and followers online by tweeting: 'I won a CMT Award! Thank you, fans, for voting your fingers off. And congrats to all the other winners and their fans tonight.' 

Earlier that night, she gave a breathtaking performance of her new single, Cry Pretty. The stage was decorated with thousands of strings of beads and crystals. 

Cry Pretty is the first single from her upcoming studio album of the same name which will be released later this year.

Since returning to the spotlight after her 'freak accident' in November last year, Underwood has performed Cry Pretty at the Country Music Awards in April, and on American Idol in May.
