One of the most famous rappers and musicians of all times, Snoop Dogg, revealed in an interview how Biggie Smalls had him shot in New York more than a decade ago.

During the conversation Snoop had with the Rap Radar Podcast, he revealed that he watched all the episodes of the series Unsolved, which is a true crime anthology TV show.

The first season, which had 10 episodes, was based on the murders of rappers Tupac and Biggie (also known as The Notorious B.I.G.), in the late ‘90s. One of the aspects that surprised Snoop the most was the event that had him shot.

According to him, nobody had ever talked about that, so he didn’t know how the director and producers of the show found out. Snoop added that they showed it the right way: with Biggie calling the shot.

BET reported that the incident Snoop was talking about took place when he and Tha Dogg Pound, his rap collective, were on East Coast territory, in Red Hook, Brooklyn, trying to shoot a music video for his song New York, New York.

However, the relationship between rappers from the West Coast and the East Coast was not as amicable as it is now, so Biggie called the radio station Hot 97 and announced that Snoop and his crew were ‘in town.’

The West Coast rapper and his team didn’t know that Biggie had put out a citywide hit on them. Shooters showed up in the middle of the video shoot and opened fire. Thankfully, no one was injured or killed, but it was a strong message for Snoop and his crew.

After telling the story, Snoop revealed that he and his group loved Biggie so much that they decided not to speak about it with the media. Given the humorous way the rapper told the incident, it would be fair to say that it’s all water under the bridge.
