The Colombian-born visited her hometown to perform at the inauguration of the Central American and Caribbean Games. As she was leaving she was asked an indiscreet question, and she had a priceless response.
Following her performance in the Metropolitan Stadium of the city of Barranquilla, where she was born, after an absence of 10 years, 41-year-old Shakira was reached by local reporters that surprised her with a question, Soy Carmín reported.
The star was leaving her hotel the day after her homecoming show when she exchanged a few words with the press from her car seat, and she dealt with the inquiries of the reporters with a display of humor.
“Shakira, are you pregnant?” a woman can be heard asking the Clandestino singer, making her open her eyes in a funny gesture before denying been expecting a third child. Read more on our Twitter account @amomama_usa
Still a little shocked, the mother-of-two only answered with a clear “no.” But then she laughed at it and gave her a funny reply.
“Why do you ask if I am pregnant? Did I look a little fat last night? It must have been what I had to eat. It must be the arepas asadas," she said, blaming the signature local food, a form of cornbread, for her extra weight.
Leaving the subject behind, Gerard Pique’s wife shared how "incredible" it was for her to return to her home city to give a much-anticipated presentation.
According to La Botana, an audience of thousands sang along to Shakira’s long lists of hit songs, and she was granted an impressive ovation at the end of her performance.
The rumors about a possible pregnancy were originated by the way her dress made her belly look during her show, and the reporters didn’t want to miss an opportunity to cover such great news, but it all ended in a denial.
Shakira relaunched her El Dorado Tour the past June in Germany, after recovering from her health problems. For the tour's final show, the singer will be back in her country for a performance in the capital city of Bogota.
