Lizzo recently released the music video for her new song, “Rumors.” Although this was supposed to be a time of celebration, the singer found herself crying during an Instagram Live.

“Rumors,” Lizzo’s new track with Cardi B, made its premiere release on Saturday, August 13, 2021. Showing how destructive some people are, the following day, Lizzo, 33, went live on Instagram and ended up in tears.

During the Instagram Live post, the star explained how she had negativity directed against her no matter what she did. Cardi B showed her support by retweeting part of the Instagram Live video and sharing her own opinion.

The musician, who featured on Lizzo’s current song, shared how people would call one problematic if one stood up for themselves, and when you didn’t, people would tear you apart until you cried like Lizzo, adding:

“Remember these are nerds looking at the popular table.”

Cardi B said the trolls would always redirect their insecurities on others whether they were big, skinny, or had plastic surgery. Lizzo cried as she spoke about how much positivity she tried to give out into the world.

No matter how positive she was, the musician still received negative responses. The star confessed that, for the most part, she accepted the reality that she couldn’t control if people liked her music.

However, she wasn’t going to keep quiet about people hating her for how she looked and unfairly targeting Black women in general. Lizzo emotionally called them out, noting how their behavior was racist, fatphobic, and hurtful.

She shared how she was speaking out for all big Black women in the future who just wanted to live their lives with no scrutiny or being boxed. In her address, she also mentioned that she felt like the world didn’t love her back.

In response to the singer’s heartfelt post, some of her fans flooded social media with their favorite performances and photos of Lizzo. Even other celebrities like Octavia Spencer, Chlöe Bailey, and Jameela Jamil joined in.

They showed the musician love and spoke out in support. Lizzo concluded her post by vowing to only focus on the positive comments from now on because she didn’t have time for people’s negativity.

She said the trolls were just people who had self-hatred that they chose to project on her. The “Good as Hell” artist revealed that she would not shrink herself for other people and would continue being herself.

In a later Instagram post, Lizzo showed her positive approach to life with a short clip of her laughing joyously. The singer’s resilience and strength are what will keep her at the top of her game.
