Kathy Griffin had to reassure fans of her safety as she stood in sight of huge balls of red smoke near her California home.

Griffin, 58, is one of many being affected by the California wildfires, referred to as the Getty Fire, currently roaring through large parts of the state.

The comedian took to Instagram on Monday to give her followers a closer look at the smoke from the flames closest to her home. The clip is found below.

In the 18-second video, we see a large cloud of red-tinted smoke rising into the sky some distance off. Just below, bright orange indicated where the origin of the smoke was coming from.

Reflexively, one might think that Griffin was putting herself in danger by recording the flames. However, the comedian and actress made her disclaimer in the caption.

She wrote:

"No, I’m not one of those [expletive] stopping on the side of the freeway to get this video. Took it from my driveway. Endless thanks @LAFD @LAPDHQ and all first responders. They are tireless heroes!"

Griffin's subsequent update showed extreme gratitude

Griffin would have been standing on the driveway of her Los Angeles mansion. In a later tweet, she updated fans saying that "choppers [were] still going nonstop overhead."

Again, the former CNN contributor thanked the officials, calling them heroes for their "tireless work." Since yesterday, the fire, which originated west of the 405 Freeway, has caused many to evacuate.

Stars, including LeBron James, university students, and many others were obliged to leave their homes and schools. The fire also led to widespread power outages.

Details of the California wildfires

According to CNN, 618 acres were affected and eight structures have been destroyed since the fire began. As of Tuesday morning, just five percent of the flames were contained.

There are other fires plaguing California. The Kincade fire also caused power outages in the San Francisco Bay, while the Oak Fire has so far covered 10 acres in Calabasas.

In addition to the heat from the natural disaster, Griffin is also in hot water with fellow comedian Ellen DeGeneres. Back in July, Griffin opened up about the pair's current terms with each other.

Ellen and Kathy shared a very mild feud

In an interview on "Good Day New York," Griffin was asked about where she stands with the talk show host. "I am apparently not her cup of tea, but I think she is great... I am not a comedy snob," she said.

Griffin admitted that she could be "vulgar" with her jokes, whereas DeGeneres is cleaner in her show. She further praised the host for being "in the game" at her age.

The pair reportedly began their alleged feud in 2014 when Degeneres denied Griffin's request to honor the late Joan Rivers. DeGeneres though Rivers' comedy was too "mean."

It seems like the two women have come around to some extent since then. For now, we just hope that Griffin and everyone else affected remain safe amid the fires.
