Chris Rock may have lost the hearts of many due to his previous jokes, but he won fans’ hearts recently when a post showcasing his newly acquired cornrows emerged online.

The comedian whose hair has evidently grown, most likely during the quarantine, hired the services of the salon, Hair By Susy to give his hair a new look.

A post on the salon’s Instagram revealed photos of Rock with his new do - a row of braids lining his head and extending down his nape. The post also thanked Rock for his support of the black-owned establishment.

Followers of the salon thought Rock’s new look was “awesome” and one described him as “dope.”

This isn’t the only time Rock gained positive comments in recent days. His posts supporting the Black Lives Matter movement have also been drawing love his way.

One user wrote, “Not everybody hates Chris” in response to his tribute to George Floyd where he also called for unity in the fight for justice.

Rock has been the subject of hate in the past due to several of his jokes that some thought to be offensive. During the Oscars in 2016 in which he was the host, he was slammed due to a joke he made regarding protests against the lack of black nominees in the awards show.

Rock said that this omission of the Black community from the roster has been happening for decades but Black people never protested because “we had real things to protest at the time.” The comment offended some who saw Rock’s joke as belittling of an issue that is also worth fighting for.

Regardless of how people viewed his jokes, Rock has always been a defender of racism. In fact, he reportedly left “SNL” in favor of the diverse show, “In Living Color” because he refused to portray material that constantly stereotyped Black men.

Moreover, in 2016, he also called out Hollywood for being "sorority racist" during his monologue as host of the Academy Awards.
