Motherhood is an extraordinary journey that nearly every woman looks forward to from the core of her heart. While it's a rollercoaster ride filled with endless twists and turns, nothing compares to the feeling of holding your little one in your arms.

Parental bliss is a one-of-a-kind experience, and despite everything, couples anxiously wait to start a family. Often, people feel comfortable talking about becoming parents, but the same might not be true for those experiencing heartbreak.

Today's story sheds light on something similar, a topic that might often go undiscussed and unnoticed but is forever etched in the heart and mind of the person who underwent it.

Talking about success stories and happy moments is comparatively easier. However, opening up about trauma, pain, struggle, and loss requires nerves and community support. The mere thought that someone somewhere understands what you've experienced might help ease our heartache.

LOOKING FORWARD TO MOTHERHOOD

Emily Christine Fauver, who hailed from Oregon but lived in Louisiana with her husband, eagerly awaited motherhood and couldn't wait to welcome her little angel.

Her excitement reached its peak with every passing day, and her heart swelled with pure ecstasy. On November 14, 2016, Fauver, 25, went with her husband for her eight-week ultrasound.

Fauver's post was shared by Love What Matters on Facebook, where her viral story has racked up 166,000 reactions, 198,000 shares, and 25,000 comments to date.

After filling out almost 50 pages of paperwork, she was taken to the examination room. On her way, Fauver recalled being greeted with a smile from everyone because her delight from carrying a baby was contagious.

GOING FOR THE ULTRASOUND

Shortly afterward, the ultrasound began, and she saw black and white images on the screen. Her heart fluttered like a bird, and excitement swept over her. Fauver said she and her husband had waited anxiously for that day for over a year.

But within minutes, the young woman's happiness subsided as she realized that the images were different from the ones she had seen her friends share on Facebook. Something was terribly wrong. Fauver recounted:

"I saw nothing because my body was just hours away from miscarrying."

A DEAFENING SILENCE

According to Fauver, the ultrasound machine was quiet, and she knew the reason. Something shattered inside her heart as she saw the doctor silently exit the room. Her husband reassured her everything was fine, but she knew it wasn't. She also added:

"But don't tell that to a girl who has seen hundreds of ultrasound photos, who has searched Instagram for the hashtag "8weeks" to see what her baby now looked like."

After the devastating news was confirmed, Fauver was told to go home and let her body naturally run its course. As she walked away teary-eyed, her heart became heavy with the emotional baggage she would carry for the rest of her life.

HANDLING THE HEARTBREAKING NEWS

The Louisiana resident admitted that her doctor didn't fully prepare her to handle the heart-rending news. She recalled:

"She didn't tell me I was going to be reminded for weeks to come because my body was going to take that long to "clean out." She didn't tell me I was going to have to watch my husband weep."

The heartbroken woman said that her doctor didn't tell her how hard it would be or how long her body would continue to think it was pregnant for the weeks to come.

LONELY AND BROKEN

Fauver admitted she was baffled by how lonely she felt in her situation, even though nearly one in four women were said to have experienced a miscarriage. However, it soon dawned on her why she felt so alone.

She realized that many women in her place refrained from sharing their experiences because they didn't have enough support or felt uncomfortable opening up.

So to change that, Fauver turned to Facebook to share an honest and heartbreaking post about how she miscarried her baby and the lasting impact it left on her heart.

THE FEAR OF OPENING UP

The woman told The Huffington Post that she thought most women didn't talk openly about their experiences for fear of being judged. She also said:

"They don’t know if people will understand their emotional attachment to something that they never met. They don't want to be told it was their fault because they did this or that."

Moreover, after detailing her miscarriage, Fauver discovered that many people close to her, including her sister, mother, and aunt, had been through the same thing, which enabled her to feel less alone. She also found solace on Facebook from netizens' stories.

THE VIRAL POST

Fauver's post was shared by Love What Matters on Facebook, where her viral story has racked up 166,000 reactions, 198,000 shares, and 25,000 comments to date. She told Daily Mail the reasons why she made her experience public. Fauver mentioned:

"I knew that so many other women had to have felt what I did and maybe if I had enough courage to share my story maybe one less women would not feel alone."

Despite the odds, Fauver confessed that she and her then-25-year-old Air Force pilot husband were positive and looked forward to better times. Fortunately, the couple welcomed their rainbow baby in 2018.

IT GETS BETTER

When asked if she had anything more to say for women who miscarried, Fauver replied, "It does get better." Her Facebook post also read:

"I am sharing this so that maybe one less woman will feel alone and use this as a reminder or message that there is hope after this heartbreak."

Undoubtedly, what Fauver and her husband endured is incredibly heart-wrenching, and we hail her for her courage to speak up and share her experience. Please share this couple's story with your family and friends.
