Lorraine Martin Smothers has been committed to striking a working balance between her career and caring for her loved ones. Before tying the knot with Chris Wallace, she was married to a comedian whose ex-wife died tragically on their wedding day.

Virginia native Lorraine Martin Smothers became a best-selling author at the beginning of the 2010s after fans of her husband, Chris Wallace, begged for her soup recipes. The anchor had often raved about his wife's cooking during his Sunday morning segments on Fox News.

Though he was initially skeptical about Lorraine's decision to publish her recipe books, the first was such a massive success that it was followed by two equally successful sequels. Lorraine sought expert help to curate her books, but she also integrated her family into the creation.

She was already a mother of two when she married Chris and became a mother of six with four children from his previous marriage. Some of their kids have kept their lives private, but as Chris said, they all lead positive lives as "happy, healthy adults."

Lorraine drew her first breath in Alexandria on April 8, 1959. Though she isn't an actress, she has a few TV credits, appearing as herself on "Imus in the Morning," "Fox and Friends," and "Shepard Smith Reporting."

She became a best-selling author after publishing her book "Mr. Sunday's Soups" in December 2010. Her husband inspired the title, based on his popular former show, "Fox News Sunday." It remained one of Amazon's and the New York Times's bestsellers months after publication.

The book even had to be reprinted four times. It featured a foreword from Chris, who likened his family dynamic in the kitchen to that of the famous sitcom "The Brady Bunch"—which starred Barry Williams, Mike Lookinland (who turned 62 in 2022), Susan Olsen, and Eve Plumb.

When Chris started on "Fox News Sunday" in 2003, Lorraine had to adapt to a new schedule, waking up as early as 5:15 a.m. to ensure that her husband and her son, a high schooler at the time, had a delicious meal ready by 11:30 on Sundays.

She turned to soups, which were made to suit both meaty and vegan tastes, as "Mr. Sunday's Soups" reflected, and they became a weekly tradition. Lorraine's cooking skills also allowed her to replicate restaurant meals, as her husband would attest.

In 2013, she followed up with "Mr. Sunday's Saturday Night Chicken," filled with over 100 seasonal recipes for chicken meals. Then in 2015, she completed the book series with "Mr. and Mrs. Sunday's Suppers."

Lorraine Martin Smothers' First Husband Dick Smothers "Flashed on Her and Then Pursued Her"

Dick, the well-known musician and comedian, met Lorraine through mutual friends after one of them invited her backstage at one of his shows. The former couple tied the knot in September 1986, when they were 47 and 27, respectively, and divorced in 1994.

Dick had previously been married to Linda Miller, who reportedly died on his and Lorraine's wedding day due to a car accident. The pair settled in Lorraine's home state, where they raised horses and welcomed two children, Sarah and Remick Smothers.

During a 1993 interview with The Morning Call, Dick reflected on his relationship with Lorraine. The musician had initially stayed in California, but considering his ex-wife knew no one in that state, he decided to settle in Virginia with her. He recalled his first meeting with the mom of six, saying:

"When I first saw Lorraine, I flashed on her and then pursued her. It's easy enough for me to leave California because I’ve been on the road and in the air for 30 years. It wouldn't be fair to put Lorraine in California where she had no friends, family or roots."

Lorraine and Chris Have a Blended Family of 6 Children

By order of age, Lorraine's stepchildren are Peter, Megan, Catherine, and Andrew. Peter, born in 1975, studied at Harvard University and graduated Magna Cum Laude. Soon after, he started working as a private equity investor at the Blackstone Group in New York.

He married another Harvard graduate, Jennifer Marie Breheny, in June 2004. Jennifer worked as an associate producer on CBS's "60 Minutes" starring Peter's grandfather, Mike Wallace. Mike had set the two up on a blind date in November 2000, marking the beginning of their love story.

Megan, meanwhile, has lived her life privately, and her occupation is unknown. However, her father once divulged that she referred to him like her kids did: as "Bom Bom."

Catherine graduated with two Master's degrees from two institutions. One is from The Johns Hopkins University in International Public Policy (2021), and the other is from the University of St. Andrews in Modern History and International Relations (2009). Currently, she is an Associate Director and Communications Specialist at Arsht-Rock.

Andrew married a lady named Olivia Millot in June 2016. The couple welcomed a baby, whose gender is unknown, a little over two years later in September 2018. Lorraine's daughter, Sarah, keeps her online accounts private; however, her brother's posts revealed a bit about her life.

According to an October 2017 post by Remick, she had just married a man named Cam Thompson. Remick also found love and welcomed a baby, Lela, in recent years. Last year in May, he penned a long and touching tribute wishing his wife a happy first Mother's Day.

According to his bio, Remick is a "magician" and a "trophy husband." As his timeline suggested, he is also a fishing enthusiast and a dog lover. The timeline also included many adorable photos of his wife and their baby.
