"I was angry I even felt the need to say that. It's awful walking into a restaurant and having the whole room look at you, knowing what they're saying."

To combat this feeling, Gomez decided to stay home and out of the spotlight until she felt comfortable enough to go out again. Before she did this, Gomez said she felt like an object.

Another assumption the public made about Gomez was that she was in rehab for substance abuse issues. However, she did not entertain these rumors and instead focused on improving.
