Kirstie Alley, best known for her role in "Cheers," died on December 5, 2022, at the age of 71. Her children, True and Lillie Parker, announced that she died of cancer, which had only been recently discovered.

The "Drop Dead Gorgeous" actress left a legendary legacy in her career as well as an amazing mother and grandmother. As she passed away, she was surrounded by family, the people she gave never-ending joy while alive.

True and Lillie released a statement on social media praising their mom for fighting cancer courageously. They also thanked doctors and nurses who treated and took care of Kirstie at the Moffit Cancer Center. The kids added that their mom died, leaving them inspired to live life to the fullest, just as she did.

Kirstie was an amazing mom to her kids. She opened up about her motherhood experience and her journey to become a mom. In 1990, the actress suffered a miscarriage when she was only three months pregnant. She recalled that she had joy in her life like she had never felt before when she learned she was pregnant. Sadly, the happiness didn't last.

The movie star opened up about her miscarriage in her 2005 book "How To Lose Your Ass and Regain Your Life: Reluctant Confessions of a Big-Butted Star." She wrote that the miscarriage "Is the one devastating thing that has happened to me in my life that took years to recover from."

The miscarriage ranked high in Kirstie's personal tragedy, especially since she convinced herself and her body that she hadn't lost her baby. Her body even produced milk at her nine-month mark. The trauma worsened when the actress was told she would never have kids. She began grieving, got fat, and had little hope for any future children.

Kirstie was blessed with kids via adoption. True arrived on September 28, 1992, and Lillie was born on June 15, 1994. The actress shared her kids with her ex-husband, Parker Stevenson, whom she married in 1983. The two divorced in 1997. Motherhood became the movie star's best job. In 2006, Kirstie said, "My best quality is that I'm a good mother."

The "Drop Dead Gorgeous" star had a successful career, but she always put motherhood first. When she was away shooting, she missed being with her kids. Kirstie loved being at home watching movies on her bed with her cats, dogs, and children.

When True and Lillie were kids, their mom only allowed them a maximum of two hours of television at night. They'd get zero hours unmonitored on the computer, and True only had MySpace, which he was allowed 15 minutes on.

Kirstie, who struggled a lot with her weight, noted that her kids had better body image perspectives than her. They ate good, healthy, and organic food and were physically active. The actress would tell them that if they wanted beauty and happiness, they'd have to be happy first and then be healthy.

She also praised her kids' top-notch knowledge of animals, food, and the environment. "My kids are funny and so smart," gushed the actress. The actress's smart kids were also into the Goth band Evanescence, who once signed a poster for True during a concert Kirstie attended.

Kathy Najimy, Kirstie's longtime friend and co-star on "Veronica's Closet," praised the actress as a fun mom who always had her kids with her and did things for them in a grand way. "She's the kind of mom you want," said Kathy. Kirstie's unconditional love for her kids was reciprocated as True and Lillie protected their mom.

In 2001, when Kirstie had added weight and her career had slowed down, paparazzi used to pounce on her. However, during this lazy and complacent period, her kids would spray their water Uzis on photographers to chase them away and protect their mom.

The actress's kids are now adults. Kirstie was proud of True. In 2010, she shared a post on X, saying she was so lucky because her son respected, loved, and cherished women, and was a dream to be around for both men and women.

When True got engaged, Kirstie was also excited to share the news. In December 2016, The actress celebrated the holidays for the first time as a grandmother. She had previously let the world know via X in June 2016 that True was now a father.

Kirstie shared a touching photo of True's son laying on his chest and captioned it, "When your son has a son...bliss...yes this is my secret happy news as promised ...Welcome Waylon Tripp Parker."

In December 2016, True and his girlfriend went to work for Kirstie, and the actress spent three weeks holding her grandson as soon as he woke up, walking around with him, and showing him all the lights as she sang to him. "It was nothing short of stupendous and exhilarating," she gushed.

Kirstie, her father, True, and her grandson even took a four-generation picture, which the actress shared on X. She confessed that she'd been dying to have the photo taken. The actress praised True and his girlfriend as excellent and hands-on parents. "It's heartwarming to see your own child have a child," she added.

Kirstie was also close to her daughter. Lillie accompanied her to several red-carpet events over the years, including a charity gala in 2011 and the premiere of "Sydney White" in 2007. The two also appeared on the actress's reality TV series "Kirstie Alley's Big Life," which ran for one season in 2010.

Lillie lives a private life. In 2014, at 20 years old, her fiancé Nick Trela, who was 23, died in a motorcycle accident in Los Angeles. Lillie mourned her fiancé and was lucky to fall in love again as, in 2017, Lillie announced that she was engaged to her boyfriend, Chaffee Burkhart Graham.

Kirstie's daughter shared the good news on Instagram, writing, "Yesterday the love of my life asked me to marry him." Lillie posted a photo of the two kissing as she showed off her engagement ring, adding, "There is no one in the world I would rather spend every day with. In May 2021, Lillie shared the good news that she was a mom. She posted a gorgeous photo holding her baby on her chest as Chaffee kissed her cheek. The mom wrote on an Instagram post, "Ripp Woodrow Graham. You are perfect. Thank you for making me a mother 💙."

Lillie is now a mother who hasn't forgotten the impact her own mom had in her life. She often shares pictures of Kirstie on Instagram on the actress's birthday and on Mother's Day. In one of the pictures, a proud Kirstie has posed next to her daughter.

In 2023, True and Lillie announced an estate sale for their mom's personal items. The first part of the sale took place on December 21, 2023, just a year after Kirstie died. This sale ran until January 7, 2024. The kids sold the actress's fun and unique personal items, which made up a curated selection of her belongings.

The sold pieces came from Kirstie's three homes in Maine, California, and Clearwater. The actress used to be a trained interior designer before she became an actress. She was a lover of style and function, thus surrounded herself with items she loved, no matter their origin.

Part two of the sale will occur from January 22 through February 4. This sale will focus on Kirstie's home goods, such as salvage items and her favorite garden décor.

True and Lillie continue to honor their mother, who would have turned 74 in 2024, and remember the incredible woman who raised them. The two are now parents, having made Kirstie a grandmother. The actress was super proud of her kids, their achievements, and how far they have come in life.
