The couple shared six kids. Loretta had to juggle motherhood and her busy career, which had her on the road doing shows even on the holidays. She noted that it was rough being away from family most weeks.

In the early days of her career, Loretta, who was working hard to make ends meet, would play at shows while pregnant right up until her babies were born. "That guitar around my neck just about killed me. I don’t advise it to any mother," she lamented.

Loretta's husband, Oliver Lynn, was only a mechanic with a meager salary, so the singer had to work extra hard. She recalled that even during Christmas holidays, she would be on the road touring, something that broke her heart as it kept her away from her family.

Often, Loretta strived to be home for Christmas, but more often than not, she found herself running late, resulting in her children waking up on Christmas morning without her. "Just close your eyes and think about your own family – just think about being away from them on the holidays. It was hard for me. Sometimes I'd cry," she revealed.

Sadly, Loretta died on October 4, 2022, leaving her kids and grandchildren behind. The singer was 90. She died in her sleep at her ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee.

Loretta came into the music business at a time when it was male-dominated and became a model for ordinary women, as a mother and a wife, with an impeccable voice and songwriting.

The first decade of Emmy's upcoming career involved the release of her singles. In 2023, she debuted at the Grand Ole Pry. Emmy joined Lukas Nelson, son of Willie Nelson, for a poignant performance at Loretta Lynn's CMT-broadcast memorial, titled "A Celebration of the Life and Music of Loretta Lynn."

Together, they sang a rendition of Loretta's and Willie's "Lay Me Down," earning a nomination for Performance of the Year at the 2023 CMT Music Awards.

Emmy, who has owned one of her grandmother's guitars for a decade, learned the humility needed to connect with her audience while on a creative journey that involved traveling with Loretta as a teenager. She has also engaged in theological education and evangelism in Brazil.

The singer is keen to form her own path. She revealed that God didn’t create her to conform to the stereotypical traditions of country look and dressing. Emmy also has no desire to adopt a forced Southern accent onstage. Still, she said her family is essential to her as much as she wants to live her own life and share some of her stories.

Emmy also noted, "I'm not trying to please anyone other than myself - but if people find themselves and their journey in my songs, that will allow me to make this my work for the rest of my life."

When she appeared on American Idol in 2024, Emmy spoke of Loretta. "She's one of the biggest country music singers of all time but to me, she's just my grandma, and growing up on the bus, all that was very normal to me," shared Emmy.

The 24-year-old sang her original song "Skinny," about an eating disorder on American Idol, in front of judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan. Pop star Katy praised her, saying "You are an A+ songwriter. So is your grandma. You got the gift."

Online users have also commented on Emmy's performance, with many praising it. One fan gushed, "So sweet I really like her voice." A user concurred, "I seriously love this young lady." The user added that Emmy was "so special" and was likely to be among the "Top 10."

More people called Emmy a "talented" singer and songwriter. "I instantly fell in love with your voice (…) Can't wait to see you takeoff and fly," wrote a user. Another person revealed that Emmy's song "made me cry right away." "Watching it again right now & still crying," a user agreed.

"She's definitely Top Ten if she keeps this up," noted a fan. Other fans commended Emmy for being courageous enough to perform while an individual said Emmy was "Awesome make your grandma proud."

Emmy, who made her grandma proud on stage at the American Idol 2024, has also previously shared the stage with Loretta in 2015. Loretta shared her granddaughter's performance on her Facebook account and captioned it, "Her memaw is a little Proud!"

Emmy has also over the years shared pictures of her grandmother on her social media page. When Loretta received the Crystal Milestone Award for the 2015 ACMs, Emmy congratulated her on Instagram, while sharing their gorgeous picture. "Congrats memaw," she wrote.

In 2015, Emmy also posted another stunning picture of her and Loretta, calling the country singer, "My bestest best friend." In another throwback picture Emmy shared, Loretta is seen playing her guitar as she smiles broadly. Emmy wrote in the captions, "This morning my mom shared this photo with me, Mema's warming up before going on stage at the Ryman in 1966."

Emmy, who is the daughter of one of Loretta's twin daughters, has begun charting her path in the music industry. Her mom, Patsy, was born on August 6, 1964, with her twin sister Peggy Lynn. Loretta didn't know beforehand that she was expecting twins.

The singer was shocked when she was told at the delivery table that another baby was coming through. As much as Loretta was surprised, she was happy when the twins were born healthy.

Peggy and Patsy were also in the music industry in the ‘90s as "The Lynns." The two charted two singles and received Vocal Duo of the Year nominations in 1998 and 1999. However, they exited the entertainment industry and Peggy went on to become a successful farmer while Patsy Lynn thrived as a producer and songwriter.

Even with their successful careers, Loretta was most proud of them as parents, "I guess I'm more proud of the mommas they are and how fiercely they love their own kids than anything," she admitted.

Now, one of Loretta's daughters, Patsy, has raised a child, Emmy, who, like her grandmother, has pursued a career in singing and is carving out her own path in the entertainment industry.
