However, in middle school, Vanessa moved three hours away. The bride and Vanessa maintained contact and even agreed to hang out whenever they were in the same town. In October 2021, Vanessa went to the bride's town and they went out for coffee, spending five hours together.

After spending this moment together, they both agreed that they had so much fun that they would love to meet and hang out again. However, over the years, when the bride made plans with Vanessa, she never came through.

The bride explained, "Either one of three things would happen. First thing she just wouldn’t answer, second, she'd give me an excuse but not reschedule the day, so let's say I was like, ‘Hey, wanna hang out on Saturday?' She goes, no, I'm busy and so I'd be like no I can hang out on Sunday, though. Number three, we would be in the middle of planning something and she would just disappear."

Eventually, the bride figured out that Vanessa just didn't want to hang out with her again, so she stepped back. In January 2023, the bride texted Vanessa, letting her know that her 21st birthday was coming up and that she'd love to celebrate it with her alongside some of her other friends.

The bride's birthday was in February 2023. So, when she called Vanessa, she asked her to pick the weekend they would celebrate, which would fit into her schedule as she was always so busy. "I am free on the 24th and 25th," said Vanessa. With this information at hand, the bride created a group chat with all her friends, including Vanessa to begin her birthday plans.

For the next few weeks, the bride sent messages about her birthday plans to the group and realized that everyone else was responding except Vanessa. A week before her birthday, the bride still hadn't heard anything from Vanessa, so she texted her separately asking her if she was still going to her birthday.

Vanessa texted back, "Hang on I'm at work," to which the bride replied, "Okay." Still, Vanessa never got back to her for the rest of the day. The bride had to text Vanessa again the next day asking if she would attend her birthday celebrations over the weekend.

This time Vanessa replied, telling the bride that she found out a few weeks ago that one of her family members was coming to town on the birthday weekend so she would have to bail on her. The bride recalled, "I was like, I did tell you about this a month ago, and she goes, I know but they don't come to town very often, I hope you have fun though."

The bride just replied, "Okay, thanks for letting me know." Vanessa then told the bride that she would love to catch up with her over the summer. As usual, Vanessa never reached out over the summer and the bride didn't bother making plans with her as she felt they wouldn't materialize as is the norm.
