While most insects are harmless, even though most people are disgusted by them, there are some of them that can be a real problem.

This seems to be the case with a particularly problematic bug in Texas, and while its name may sound "friendly," is best to keep away from it.

According to Goodfullness, They’re called “kissing bugs,” but they’re also known by another name: “The Assassin Bug.”

This bug is responsible for the spread of a highly dangerous disease called American Trypanosomiasis, or “Chagas Disease.”

The same outlet revealed that a high number of dogs died from this rare parasitic disease, and in Texas alone, roughly 400 dogs already died from the disease.

Chagas disease is caused by a parasite known as Trypanosoma Cruzi, the parasite is carried by this bug, and is spread by the feces of these little insects.

The "Kissing Bug" feeds on blood usually around the eyes and mouth of a pet while they are sleeping, and that's when the horror begins.

Transmission occurs when fecal material gets rubbed into the bite wound or into a mucous membrane, eyes and mouth, as dogs can also get this parasite by eating the bugs.

Chagas disease is commonly known as the “silent killer” because it's hard to realize the disease is present until its later stages

Most people realize it after the disease already attacked the heart muscles, causing heart failure, by which stage it is too late for treatment.

Symptoms of this disease from include massive swelling of the eyelids, and even anaphylactic shock, which can cause asphyxiation and eventually death, but first, these symptoms might be as mild as the flu.

These bugs usually live under porches, between walls, under rocks or cement, in forested areas, or in outdoor dog houses or chicken coups.

If you're considering that your child or dog may have been bitten from one of these bugs, take them to the hospital as fast as possible.
