For some time now, there continue to be persistent rumors that the whistle-singing and Grammy-winning Mariah Carey is a diva, high maintenance, and lives an extravagant lifestyle.

While this is all speculation, her ex-husband Nick Cannon opened up about this on the "Joe Budden Podcast," stating that these whispers are not far from the truth.

Cannon said Carey would not do a gig unless they were paying her a large sum. Commenting on her insistence on high pay, Carey's ex-spouse stated:

"Mariah don't step out the house — it cost her $150,000, $200,000 just to walk out the house."

But, the vocalist stated that she earned what she has and what she demands. The prolific singer said: "You know what? I don't give a [expletive]. I [expletive] am high-maintenance because I deserve to be at this point."

While Carey insists she gets her money's worth, the vocalist grew up in poverty. So, she tries to keep her children grounded as she expands. The singer expressed that she wants to teach them that they are not entitled to anything. Carey stated:

"Right now it’s like, 'I want this,' and I’m like, 'You're asking me for something that costs $20.' I can't even imagine having, like, one dollar as a kid because we didn't have money going around. So they have to appreciate those things."

She and Cannon conceived twins, a boy, and a girl, born in 2011. The daughter is Monroe, and the son is Moroccan, while their nicknames are Roe and Roc.

Monroe, named after the iconic Marilyn Monroe, weighed around 5 pounds and 18 inches when she was born. This little girl has joined her mother on stage and made appearances in some of Carey's television specials and videos. She has also already tried her hand at modeling.

Moroccan has not shied away from the limelight either, appearing in his mom's videos and on red carpets. He was born slightly heavier than his sister, at around 5 pounds and 19 inches.

NICK CANNON'S RELATIONSHIP WITH THE TWINS

Carey and Cannon went their separate ways in 2014 but are reportedly great co-parents. According to an inside source, Cannon is actively involved in the twin's lives.

The music artist has claimed that his ex-wife has taught him a lot about co-parenting and that they remain good friends.

Steve Harvey, who has seven children, also has twins: Karli and Brandi. These two girls were conceived during his first marriage to Marcia Harvey.

The girls were born in 1982 and have grown up to be successful women. Karli mentors and is a public speaker, while her sister found a website called "Beyond Her," which focuses on health and fitness.
