Dave, an avid animal enthusiast, was driving along a scenic country road when he saw a herd of cows grazing in the fields.

He didn't pass up on the opportunity to photograph the cows, along with the beautiful scenery, so Dave pulled over and got his camera ready.

Upon closer inspection, he saw that one of the cows appeared to be distressed. She was pacing back and forth while the other cows were enjoying the sun and cool water. It was clear to Dave the cow needed his assistance.

She had given birth to a calf, who unfortunately rolled off a slope and came to rest on the other side of an electric fence. There was no way for the mother to reach her calf. Dave wanted to help reunite the cow with her calf but it was easier said than done.

He had to gently maneuver the calf away from the electric fence, at great risk to his personal safety. The electric fence had an active current. Dave also had to be cautious of the cow, and he feared that she might storm him if she perceived him as a threat to her calf.

Dave and the calf were both shocked several times but nothing too serious, and he could eventually nudge the calf free using a stick to lift the wire. He pushed the calf through to the other side with his free hand and the mother was visibly relieved to be reunited with her baby. Netizens took to social media to praise Dave for his heroic act.

Before we show you his brave rescue attempt, have a look at this story first about a guy who rescued puppies from a garden while removing rubble. Craig McGettrick from England owns a  delivery, clean-up and rubble removal service.

He found the puppies underneath an old mattress and took them to the local animal shelter, but not before posting pictures of the newborn puppies on Facebook. His post gained media traction almost immediately and he was soon contacted by the founder of the National Fox Welfare Society.

McGettrick was informed that they weren't puppies, they were fox kits! One of the volunteers at the society assisted McGettrick and the kits were taken back to the garden. Soon enough, the mother fox showed up and carried her kits off to safety!
