Serena Williams reveals 'weird' but sweet gesture daughter Olympia did after her US Open loss
Serena Williams reveals ‘weird’ but sweet gesture her daughter Olympia did after her controversial US Open loss amid all the other issues that has been surrounding her in the past few weeks.
After the controversial and most talked about the loss of tennis superstar Serena Williams at the US Open and the recent controversy that tried to taint her marriage to Alexis Ohanian Sr., she revealed that there was one thing that kept her spirits up; her daughter.
In an interview with Mamamia, Serena narrated what she did after her tragic loss.
“Besides cry, I don’t know, it was interesting. I got in the car, and Olympia was in the car. It was so weird, and she started giving me kisses, she never gives me kisses. She doesn’t even know how to give kisses, and she just grabbed me, and I was like this little baby is so smart. It’s just hard to be too down when you have a little one.. when you have someone to take care of."
The US Open match of Serena Williams was quite the controversy for days as she had a feud with umpire, Carlos Ramos. Ramos continuously called Serena out for violations, which later resulted to loss against 20-year-old Naomi Osaka. Osaka, who won the game fairly got booed by the crowd throughout her glory moment of receiving her first grand slam trophy.
Serena, although sad about her loss, did not tolerate the crowd’s behavior and demanded the crowd to stop booing her. She said “I don’t want to be rude. She played well. Let’s make this the best moment we can, let’s not boo anymore.”
Serena left the stadium with a heavy heart and least expected her day to be a lot better in a matter of minutes. It was only with such a simple gesture that Serena’s daughter, Olympia, made her mother feel comfort. Truly, in a difficult time, Serena was able to find love and happiness in her daughter.
It is unclear when the tennis superstar will be heading back to the court, especially after some disappointing stints in her recent tournaments. However, she has stated that she is not done with her career and that this setback will make her come back stronger. For now, she wants to focus on spending her time on family, which is her main focus as of now.
