La La Anthony shares photo of age-defying mom on her birthday
“Power” actress, La La Anthony, took to Instagram to share a photo of her mom who could easily pass for her sister. The TV personality also penned a touching message to the woman she calls a “best friend.”
Although the picture is quite grainy, it shows a middle-aged smooth-faced woman with a brilliant smile.
La La gushed:
“Happy Birthday to my favorite girl. Mommy, I seriously don’t deserve you. GOD gave me a mother and a best friend wrapped in one. I love you so much, mom.”
Fans of the former MTV VJ trooped to her comments section to wish her mother a happy birthday and remark on how young she looks:
“WOW THAT'S YOUR MOM . SHE BEAUTIFUL SO, I SEE WHERE YOU GET IT FROM and she looks so young like you could be sisters”- @ha_what_you_thought
“Happy birthday to your angel mother, Queen Lala. May all the happiness in this world come bow in front of her. May she flourish in health and wealth. AMEN!”- @chimdiowhorji
La La, 39, and her mom, Carmen Surillo have always been very close. According to the business owner, “My mom and I have an incredible relationship.” During the last Mothers’ Day, she treated Surillo to a day of pampering, including a photo shoot where they were both outfitted in La La’s Denim Collection.
“It was great to get glammed up,” she shared. “It was so fun working on set with my mom which was a new experience.”
La La also opened up about the kind of bond that exists between her and her mom:
“[I’ve learned] so many things [from my mom], always be grateful, to be humble. I always talk to my son about that – to say thank you, please and to not feed into negative energy. So many things make more sense to me now than they did before I had a child.”
The mother-of-one has one son, Kiyan, with her estranged husband, Carmelo Anthony, and when her marriage was put to the test due to Carmelo’s cheating, it was Surillo who held La La up.
The mother-daughter duo posed together last year on the VH1 “Dear Mama” red carpet. La La was a co-host at the event, and while on stage, made sure to let the world know what her mother means to her:
“I definitely want to take a minute to acknowledge my mother Carmen Surillo who has been there for me through the best times, the toughest times, everything. Thank you so much mom for being my rock. You are definitely the real MVP.”
Pure love! Happy Birthday, Miss Carmen.
