Toys 'R' Us is back for the holidays. Here's a full list of Toy Box locations
The bankrupted toy retailer is reinventing itself in alliance with Kroger and its subsidiaries in the form of pop-up shops under the name of Geoffrey’s Toy Box in time for Christmas.
The announcement of the giant toy seller’s bankruptcy in September 2017 changed the game, as other companies are trying to attract consumers to they toy departments to fill the void left by the iconic store, CBS reported.
While Walmart and Target have expanded they toy sections and Amazon is now sending physical toy catalogs to customers, Kroger has made the move to give Toys ‘R’ Us’ revamping some room within their shops.
The owners of the company intellectual property have shown signs of having plans to resurrect the brand in some form after it seemed to be gone for good. Read more on our Twitter account @amomama_usa
GEOFFREY’S RETURN
Back in April, the company mascot Geoffrey The Giraffe made an unexpected return appearing at a toy industry trade show, and in October, the owners of the company decided to hold on to the name, website, and mascot of the company instead of auctioning them.
“Guess who's back? He’s been traveling across the globe for the past few months but now #GeoffreysBack and once again ready to set play free for children of all ages,” Toys ‘R’ Us tweeted on October 6.
With the holidays around the corner, some customers have been spotting “Geoffrey’s Toy Boxes” popping up in Kroger shops, and the supermarket chain has revealed that they will feature the pop-up shops in 600 locations nationwide.
"We're excited to offer Geoffrey's Toy Box this holiday season to provide our customers with the opportunity to purchase a selection of toys once exclusive to Toys R Us."

FORMER WORKERS’ UPSET
With 800 Toys ‘R’ Us stores closing during the summer, thousands of people were left unemployed without severance, and since the news of the company creating a spin-off broke, former workers are upset that the owners are directing their financial efforts to save their incomes and not taking responsibility for their former personnel.
"It's shocking that Solus and Angelo Gordon would launch Geoffrey's Toy Box without first doing right by the 33,000 families that have been struggling since these hedge funds shut down the stores," said workers’ rights advocate Carrie Gleason.
OTHER OPTIONS FOR THE HOLIDAYS
While Geoffrey’s Toy Boxes will offer the exclusive Toys ‘R’ Us brands like Zone, Imaginarium, Journey Girls, Edu Science, You & Me, and Just Like Home, you might want to know what other options are out there to purchase toys now that the popular toy retailer as we know it is gone.
The market is rapidly moving to fill the void left by Toys ‘R’ Us. For instance, Best Buy has now entered the toy-selling business, and toys are now to be found in their stores next to their usual technology products.
In a similar move to that of Kroger, Kohl’s department stores have made a deal with Lego and FAO Schwartz to capitalize on Toys ‘R’ Us demise.
