In the 50s and early 60s, Jayne Mansfield was one of the original bombshells. Her stint as Hollywood’s IT-girl came to an abrupt end in 1967 when she passed away in a car crash. Mansfield was not only a famous Hollywood actress and a Playboy playmate, but also a mother to five children. Three of them were in the car with her when she died.

Due to her role in Law & Order, Mariska Hargitay is the most well-known of Jayne Mansfield’s five children. But there are still four more than you should know about. Mansfield’s four children are Tony, Zoltan, Miklos Jr, Jayne Marie, and Mariska.

During the actresses first marriage, she only had one child, a daughter name Jayne Marie. She tried to follow in her mother’s footsteps by appearing on the cover of "Playboy", but she was not cut out for Hollywood and chose to rather have a family.

Mansfield has three children from her second marriage; Mariska, Miklos Jr, and Zoltan. Miklos Jr took a different path from his mom and older sisters by avoiding a career in Hollywood altogether. He is the owner of a landscaping business called Mickey Hargitay Plants. Zoltan, on the other hand, keeps to himself completely and very little is known about him.

Like in her first marriage, Jayne Mansfield only had one child in her last marriage, a boy called Tony. He is known for being very close to his siblings but chooses to stay out of Hollywood and far away from media attention.

Family support and struggles

Mariska Hargitay has said that the siblings are generally speaking a close-knit group and helped her to overcome depression. Part of the reason for her depression is missing her mother and having been present during the car crash that killed her.

Although Mariska was only three years old at the time, she has scars on her body from the incident that remind her every day of what happened. She is quoted as saying losing my mother at such a young age is the scar of my soul.

Mariska admits that becoming a mother herself gave her a new perspective on the challenges her mother faced juggling a family and a career. It has taught her to respect her mother, even if she can only do so by honoring her legacy.
