After a long silence, Monica Lewinsky once unveiled the reason behind her infamous affair

The scandalous affair between Monica Lewinsky and President Bill Clinton is still discussed, and it gained new momentum again when the former president's wife ran for president in 2016.

Monica Lewinsky, 45, who was involved in the infamous scandal with Bill in the late 1990s, recently stated that it was Hillary Clinton who put her through hell in her early 20s.

In May 2014, Lewinsky shared her view and commentary of the incident that involved her, who was a 21-year-old White House intern at the time. She confessed that there was no real meaning behind her actions.

She still regrets what happened every day, and she said that Hillary did everything back in the late 1990s to put Monica through hell. Now, she is reminded every day about what happened more than two decades ago.

The affair between Lewinsky and former President Clinton happened between 1995 and 1996. The whole story became public in 1998, and ultimately lead to the impeachment of President Clinton, and put Lewinsky in the worst position a lady in her 20s could imagine.

“It’s time to burn the beret and bury the blue dress," she said, referencing the dress that had become stained during an encounter with the president. “I, myself, deeply regret what happened between me and President Clinton. Let me say it again: I. Myself. Deeply. Regret. What. Happened.”

To this day, she maintains that their relationship was consensual, and any abuse that occurred happened only after their affair was exposed, where the president lay most of the blame with her to protect himself. She has apologized multiple times for making this huge mistake that cost her reputation and years of calm life.

“Hillary Clinton wanted it on record that she was lashing out at her husband’s mistress. She may have faulted her husband for being inappropriate, but I find her impulse to blame the Woman - not only me, but herself - troubling. [She] blamed herself for her husband’s affair (by being emotionally neglectful) and seemed to forgive him,” Lewinsky said.

Lewinsky's statement fully explains her attitude towards Hillary. During the 2016 presidential elections where the former First Lady ran for the Democratic party, this scandal came up more than once.

Lewinsky's response was provoked by the disclosure of conversation between Hillary and a confidante that took place in 1998. In this conversation, Hillary had called Lewinsky a "narcissistic loony toon."

When Hillary was asked during her campaign whether she really said that of her husband's former intern, she refused to comment on whatever she did or did not say in the 1990s.
