President Donald Trump watched the episode and has since slammed the businessman saying he didn’t have the “guts” to run against him.

On the “60 Minutes” interview Howard Schultz revealed that he was considering running an independent bid for president. The Democrat, spoke against his party and the GOP calling them a "reckless failure" of constitutional responsibility.

The former Starbucks CEO then made the mistake of speaking against the president's social media habits. He stated, "I think, like most people, I've become bored with President Trump and his tweets.”

Answering a question about his business experience, Schultz said he had "a long history of recognizing, I'm not the smartest person in the room."

The businessman further explained:

"In order to make great decisions about complex problems, I have to recruit and attract people who are smarter than me and more experienced, more skilled, and we've got to create an understanding that we need a creative debate in the room to make these kinds of decisions.”

On Monday, President Donald Trump took to Twitter to attack Schultz writing:

“Howard Schultz doesn’t have the “guts” to run for President! Watched him on @60Minutes last night and I agree with him that he is not the “smartest person.” Besides, America already has that! I only hope that Starbucks is still paying me their rent in Trump Tower!”

Schultz has proposed an agenda that is mainly in line with moderate Democrats but criticized their proposals as being unrealistic. A political analyst and the director of the University of Virginia's Center for Politics, Larry Sabato tweeted his thoughts on Schultz running for president.

He wrote:

"Has @ HowardSchultz ever heard the old saying, 'The road to hell is paved with good intentions?' Someone should explain it to him. His slogan might as well be, 'Re-elect Trump.'"

John K. Delaney, a Democratic contender and a former US congressman for Maryland also shared his thoughts stating:

"It's obvious. If we nominate someone w/ extreme positions that don't reflect the majority of Americans, then people like Schultz will run b/c they see an opportunity in the center with moderates. If that happens, Trump wins."

In the interview, the businessman shared his views saying:

"I don't care if you're a Democrat, independent, Libertarian, Republican. Bring me your ideas. And I will be an independent person who will embrace those ideas. Because I am not, in any way, in bed with a party."

Senator Kamala Harris has come out as the 2020 presidential candidate that will be a frontrunner in ousting Trump. On Monday, she introduced herself to voters and pitched her progressive positions that were different from the current presidents.
