Al Roker Has Shed 40 Pounds since September Thanks to a New Diet
“Today” show weatherman Al Roker said he had shed 40 pounds since September after sticking to the keto diet.
Roker, 64, has been slimming down over the past few months and today. On the recent episode of "The Today Show", the television personality said he has officially shed 40 pounds, thanks to the keto diet.
“What works for you, works for you. There’s science on both sides that says it’s not a great idea and science that says it is a great idea."
Roker started his weight loss journey last September, and according to him, his diet was going exceptionally well.
The father-of-three, who set the Guinness World Record by reporting for 34 hours in November 2014, has been extremely vocal about the diet and even has evidence to back up his wellbeing.
A few commentators have uncovered that the diet isn't safe, but Roker said he went to the specialist and everything checked out thoroughly fine.
“My cholesterol — just had them checked a couple of weeks ago. Everything’s good," the morning television legend explained.
Referring to celebrity trainer Jillian Michaels, who recently told Women’s Health Magazine that she doesn’t think the keto diet is safe, Roker said:
“What works for you, works for you. There’s science on both sides that says it’s not a great idea and science that says it is a great idea.
“I think it’s up to people, with their doctor, with their medical professional (to make their own decision).”
Back in December, Roker celebrated his 40th anniversary at NBC. In his honor, the Today Show Plaza was officially named the Rokerfeller Plaza.
The remarkable anchor's wife Deborah Roberts, who has reported for both ABC and NBC, and their son Nicholas Albert also surprised him on set with a birthday cake.
Going straight into his family's arms, Roker was found very emotional. Tears brimmed his eyes as he embraced them again and again.
Roker, who was previously married to WNBC producer Alice Bell, tied the knot with Roberts in 1995. The couple first met when Roberts joined NBC in 1990 as a reporter.
