A 36-year-old Albuquerque man was arrested by Police on April 5, 2019 for beating his daughter to death.

The 5-year-old was taken to the University of New Mexico Hospital by first responders, where she was pronounced dead.

"When rescue arrived they realized this was turning into a criminal situation and they called us and we took over the investigation."

SAVAGELY BEATEN FOR "NOT DOING HER HOMEWORK"

Brandon Reynolds called 911 claiming that his daughter had suffered a cardiac arrest, but the first responders noticed that there was blood on the wall and the floor.

Investigators later ascertained that the little girl's body was covered with bruises, and that she had been savagely beaten with a shoe.

FATHER CLAIMS HE "BLACKED OUT"

In a statement to the Police, Reynolds revealed that he had started spanking his daughter when she refused to do her homework and that he had then "blacked out" and couldn't remember the subsequent beating.

Reynolds had sole custody of his daughter, who had recently moved from California to be with him.

His assault on the 5-year-old started at 8:00 pm on April 4, but he only called for help at 1:00 am.

5-YEAR-OLD WAS IN FATHER'S CUSTODY

Reynolds had sole custody of his daughter, who had recently moved from California to be with him.

The little girl had been given into her father's care after concerns were raised on the mother's alleged use of marijuana.

FATHER CHARGED WITH CHILD ABUSE

Reynolds has been charged with child abuse, resulting in the death of a child under 13.

Albuquerque Police Chief Michael Geier said:

"This is definitely a heartbreaking tragedy and our officers and detectives are working diligently at this time to get justice for this little girl."

This is yet another horrific instance in which the parent charged with caring and protecting a child becomes their vicious, heartless killer.

MOTHER OF MURDERED 9-YEAR-OLD CHARGED

Like the tiny girl in Albuquerque, nine-year-old Trinity Love Jones succumbed to violence at the hands of a loved one.

The little girl's body was found by a passerby stuffed into a duffel bag near a California horse trail on March 5, 2019.

Police subsequently identified the victim and arrested her mother's boyfriend Emiel Hunt, 38, as the first suspect in her murder. Hunt had a record for child abuse.

On March 8, Trinity's mother, 28-year-old Taquesta Graham, was arrested by Police and charged with murder.

Graham, who had sole custody of Trinity was a convicted felon, and a registered sex offender.
