Woman Arrested for Dumping 7 Puppies in the Trash in 90°F Heat
A woman captured by surveillance video while she tossed a plastic bag full of puppies inside a dumpster was finally arrested.
According to authorities, on April 18, a security camera recorded the moment when a woman got out of her white Jeep, went to the garbage dumps and tossed a plastic bag inside which later turned out to contain 7 puppies.
Thanks to a homeless man walking around the place checking the garbage dumps, the puppies could be treated by a group of veterinarians after the man took them out of the dumpster and took them to the nearest facility.
The veterinarians believe that it is a terrier mix litter, and according to them, the 7 puppies were around 3 days old at the time of the rescue. The animal police began the investigation and quickly managed to get the woman from the video.
The puppies spent about an hour inside the dumpster and having spent half an hour there, the seven probably would have died since the temperatures that day were around 90 ° F.
On Monday, April 22, the woman identified as Deborah Sue Culwell, 54, and suspected of animal cruelty was arrested and taken into custody. However, the case doesn’t end here because the authorities found 38 more dogs living inside the residence.
Culwell's home was in a deplorable state, there were stool and urine everywhere. In addition, the furniture was totally destroyed and the dogs looked very uncared. Not knowing who would take care of them, the police had to impound them all from that place.
It is believed that the mother of the puppies is among the 38 rescued dogs.
In Dallas, Texas, the security cameras captured how Gorge Spears took a young dog out of his sedan, board his vehicle again and leave the pet abandoned in Dowdy Ferry, an area known for being the scene of constantly abandoned animals.
When the police officers knocked on his door, the accused admitted abandoning the dog, in order to help his sister, who because of diabetes was not able to care for the 1-year-old puppy.
