Inside Tiffany Trump's Relationship with Dad She Reportedly Felt 'Awkward' Around
While Tiffany Trump’s presence by her father’s side during Easter in 2018 seemed to be somewhat of a reunion, their already strained relationship is reported to be “much worse” now.
Tiffany, Donald Trump’s daughter from his marriage with Marla Maples, grew up with her mother in California and visited her father during the holidays in what became a tradition as she told PEOPLE in 2016, “I still see him on spring breaks or for Easter, I’m always at Mar-a-Lago with the family.”
Her appearance alongside her father in Ohio in April 2018, followed by a trip aboard Air Force One to Mar-a-Lago for Easter weekend and back again for the annual White House Easter egg roll, deceptively suggested that the pair have become closer.
According to insiders that spoke to PEOPLE, their relationship only deteriorated since Donald Trump’s got elected as president in 2016.
“They always had a strained relationship her whole life, and it got exacerbated by the presidency,” the source said. “It’s gotten much worse now.”
During the final days of the election, Tiffany spent time with her father on the road which included “bonding moments,” but since the pair have reportedly gone for months without contact as a source close to Tiffany said:
“Since the inauguration, Tiffany and her father have sometimes gone for months without speaking, and she went a very long time without seeing him. The last time she was at a family function with him, it was awkward for her, and she didn’t feel totally welcome.”
While Tiffany’s half-siblings, Ivanka, Donald Jr., and Eric grew up with their father, Tiffany only saw her father a few times a year during holidays which caused a natural “separation of time and distance” between Tiffany and the rest of the Trump family.
However, distance is not the only thing that drove a wedge between Tiffany and her father according to PEOPLE’s sources.
Her liberal political views on women’s rights, as opposed to the opinions of her Republican father, doesn’t gel. While she also more specifically disagrees with Donald on his lack of stronger gun laws.
Named after the Tiffany & Co. jewelry store in Manhattan, she currently attends Georgetown, with only one year left until graduation, which will mark the end of many years of study.
After Tiffany graduated from high school in 2012, she attended Donald’s alma mater, the University of Pennsylvania, where she double majored in urban studies and sociology.
Tiffany’s move to Washington, D.C. to study at Georgetown also marked the end of her two years plus relationship with Ross Mechanic according to Page Six. But last year she reportedly started dating Michael Boulos, who lives in London, after they met in Greece last summer.
On May 12 the pair got spotted during an evening out in London as Tiffany Trump joined Michael for a romantic getaway after she finished her law school final exams.
