Why Kim Kardashian & Kanye West Named Their 4th Child Psalm
When it comes to giving names, the Kardashian-West family always go for the unusual, but this time, there is a reason why they chose the name, Psalm, for their fourth child.
When Kim Kardashian announced that her fourth child with Kanye West had arrived, fans started theorizing on the name the baby boy would bear.
The speculation ranged from the name Teddy — because Kim used a bear emoji when she shared the news — to Don — in honor of Kanye's mother, Donda West. Although the reality star intimated she wanted an Armenian name or would go for Rob, in honor of her father, she ended up naming the baby boy, Psalm West.
The unusual name caused a stir among their fans, but it turned out the name got chosen by Kanye, and not the mother-of-four. Psalm means “Song;” it is a Hebrew name and the 19th book in the Bible.
A source close to the Kardashian-West family told “E! News” that the father-of-four chose the name because it represents where they are as a family spiritually and how religious they are.
The source told the news outlet that the name felt right to the couple, and after the “Angels and Demons” singer explained it to his wife, she thought it was beautiful, and agreed with him.Spirituality has become a massive part of the award-winning singer’s life. Recently, he started officiating Sunday services, and while it involves a choir and lots of singing, there is no sermon.
According to “E! News,” Kim explained Kanye believes in Jesus, and although the services have a Christian-vibe, it was open to everyone, and her Jewish and Muslim friends have attended. The Kardashian-Jenner sisters have also graced the services, and are quite frequent. Celebrities like Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom, and Diplo have also attended.
The beauty entrepreneur and Kanye welcomed Psalm on May 10. However, the “Keeping Up With The Kardashian” star did not reveal his name until a week later. She posted it on "Twitter" as a caption accompanying a text between her and the rapper.
The Kardashian-West family also share three other children whose names are equally unusual. Their first child — a girl, is named North — the name represents the highest point.
The second, a boy — Saint. His name represents “Blessing” because the reality star always referred to him as one during a very complicated pregnancy, made worse by a medical condition — placenta accreta.
The couple welcomed the baby through surrogacy, and they used the same means to have their third child, Chicago West. They resorted to using a surrogate when Kim found out after giving birth to Saint West, that she could not carry another pregnancy due to a medical condition, placenta accreta.
The TV personality overcame the shock of the news, and now, years down the line, she is blessed with four children, and is getting used to being a family-of-six.
