To honor Wagner before he was to be laid to rest, many relatives and companions assembled for a burial service parade.
Wagner's brother, Wando, knew Sereno should go to the funeral. However, no one expected what occurred next.
At the point when the vehicle carrying Wagner's coffin arrived at the gathering, the devastated horse appeared to realize it implied his best friend was truly gone.

In an interview with The DoDo, one of the attendees said:
"[Sereno] began to walk around the coffin, smelling the coffin. Then he neighed. It was a very strong emotion. Everyone who was there was moved. I cried myself when I saw that scene."
At that point, the horse stooped and put his head against the coffin. Wando told Globo News:
"[Sereno] was everything to him. It was as if the horse knew what was happening and wanted to say goodbye."

A while later, Sereno joined the other grievers as they led Wagner to his final resting place. Wando said:
"All the way to the cemetery, he would whimper and beat with his hooves on the ground."
Wando has since taken in his late sibling's horse to join his very own family. He's guaranteeing that Wagner's legacy of adoration for Sereno will live on in his new home for a long time to come.
