Michelle Obama to Read Children's Books Live on Social Media
Michelle Obama announces her latest initiative to read children's books on a free live-stream every Monday to help families get their "much-needed break."
For the next four weeks, kids stuck at home will have the opportunity to listen to Michelle Obama reading them storybooks in a new initiative called "Mondays With Michelle Obama." The live-stream will be available every Monday at noon ET, from April 20 to May 11.
READING STORY BOOKS FOR THE CHILDREN
This interesting collaboration was made possible by Obama, Penguin Young Readers, Random House Children's Books, and PBS Kids who are making their books available for kids around the world.
To excite parents and children alike, the books that Obama will be reading have also been announced, which include: "The Gruffalo" on April 20, "There's a Dragon in Your Book" on April 27, "Miss Maple's Seeds" on May 4, and "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" on May 11.
MICHELLE AND HER LOVE FOR BOOKS
Michelle shared how much she loves to read aloud, and how it's a hobby that she enjoyed when she became a parent. This didn't stop when she became First Lady, as she was given many opportunities to read to kids from everywhere.
"At this time, when so many families are under so much stress, I'm excited to give kids a chance to practice their reading and hear some wonderful stories (and to give parents and caretakers a much-needed break.)"
WOMEN SUPPORTING WOMEN
With reading as one of her favorite things to do, Obama recently gave a shoutout to another author who just released her own book - Alicia Keys. She praised Keys for helping other people through sharing her music and soul.
Michelle is also an author herself, having written her own autobiography "Becoming."

MICHELLE OBAMA'S EXCERPT ON ALICIA KEYS' BOOK
Proving the close relationship between the two women, Alicia revealed that there is even an excerpt on the book written by Obama herself, adding more light to the story she aimed to share.
"Here is a super special excerpt from the pages of the book from my sister and dear friend @michelleobama. Thank you for your continued light! Excited for you all to read, build, and continue on the journey with me."
Like Alicia, Michelle is also an author herself, having written her own autobiography "Becoming," which became a best-selling book in multiple countries. Now, she is sharing her love for reading to children and it's another exciting journey for her.
