Keke Palmer Asks National Guardsmen to March with Protesters with an Emotional Speech
Keke Palmer managed to convince soldiers of the National Guard to bend a knee after she pleaded for them to march alongside protesters.
A persistent Keke Palmer begged members of the National Guard to march with her and fellow protesters. Palmer was among those who took to the streets of Los Angeles on Tuesday to protest the death of George Floyd and its oppressive implications.

KEKE PLEADS TO SOLDIERS
A clip shared by NBC reporter Gadi Schwartz revealed a rare moment between Keke and National Guard soldiers. The singer was seen talking to one of them and requesting they join the march. She was recorded saying,
“You have people in here that need your help. This is when you and y’all can stand together with the community, with society, to stop the governmental oppression. Period. We need you.”
The guard who nodded his head while Keke spoke, replied, “I agree with you.”
When a pepped up Keke asked if he would march with them and encourage his fellow guards to join, he told Keke that they couldn’t leave their posts because they were tasked to protect property.
But Keke continued to urge the soldier to “march with us” pleading, “please, do it!” as the crowd behind her cheered her and the soldier on. “Be the change!” Keke added while the crowd began to chant “March with us!” In response, the hesitant soldier offered to escort them down the block.
SOLDIERS OBLIGE
But in a surprising turn of events, when another protester asked the soldier to take a knee, he and his fellow soldiers obliged, to the delight of the protesters around them. Meanwhile, Keke didn’t seem too impressed with the gesture saying it wasn’t enough.

KEKE EXPRESSES CONFUSION
A few days earlier, Keke took to her Instagram to pour out her frustration over recent events and the different kinds of oppression evident in the country today.
In the video she uploaded, she confessed being confused because in spite of her peace-loving nature, she couldn’t help but find comfort in the growing protests and even the violence that sprung from them.
She justified this by acknowledging the deep trauma many Americans have been experiencing prompting them to respond in any way that would assure they would be heard.
STARS TAKE TO THE STREETS
It’s been over a week since street protests emerged, a result of Floyd’s death during his arrest.
