When asked by host Ellen DeGeneres if he heard the tearing sound, Hartley answered that it was terrible. The 43-year-old disclosed that the workout that led to the injury was a personalized version of a bicep curl.

Fans may recall that Stause and Hartley’s shocking split was addressed in season three of her Netflix show, “Selling Sunset.”

However, it seems that the weight he lifted was too much or that he jerked it inappropriately. Hartley said that he was in shock when he heard the sound of the tear and stopped immediately before noticing his arm began to swell gradually. Describing the wound vividly, he said

“I felt a little grain of sand in my right here. And then it turned into, like, a pea and then a marble and then a golf ball and then a tennis ball and then a softball.”

The final stages of the swelling were described as a “watermelon” and “a human head,” but the “This Is Us” star assured DeGeneres that he was in good shape as he underwent surgery to fix it.

Now, Hartley maintains that he is 95% alright and is already back to lifting weights. The Emmy-nominated actor recently made headlines when he addressed his divorce from Chrishell Stause for the first time since their divorce in December 2019.

During an appearance on Sirius XM’s “Radio Andy,” the actor reflected on all the rumors surrounding their split and his personal life. Hartley said that he understands that people are interested in gossip and would try to keep his affairs private going forward. He also noted that he is happy about where he is right now personally and remains very thankful.

Fans may recall that Stause and Hartley’s shocking split was addressed in season three of her Netflix show, “Selling Sunset.” It was revealed that Hartley blindsided his wife of two years with the divorce and then told her about it over a text message.

Since their split, the “Passions” star has been linked to his former co-star Sofia Pernas. They both starred in “The Young and the Restless” from 2015 to 2016. Stause reacted to the news of her ex-husband moving on too quickly, admitting that felt hurt to be replaced so easily. However, she noted that she was ready to get back out there and find love.
