Monique Hicks’ body is evidence that hard work pays off. Popularly known as Mo’Nique, the star has been flaunting her changing figure in recent Instagram posts.
“Precious” actress Mo'Nique posted a video of herself dancing freely in a grey and black sports bra and tights. The energetic actress was vibing to some fun gym music with another gym-goer known only as “Aunt Wanda.”
The visibly slimmer actress looked jubilant in the remaining photos, laughing and embracing “Aunt Wanda” affectionately.
Mo’Nique uses her platform and achievements to motivate her followers. The star captioned the post:
“ I asked the UNIVERSE to allow me to see 100+yrs HEALTHY & IN MY RIGHT FRAME OF MIND.“
Her fans couldn’t help but pick up on this positive energy and egged her on, filling her comment section with applause. One fan commented, “This brought me so much joy,” and another confessed, “[You] helped me drop my weight. And I thank [you].”
The comedy queen worked hard to achieve her goals, focusing on a healthy diet and exercise instead of going the surgery route. She made it a point to keep her followers updated so that they, too, would be motivated to lose weight through natural methods.
Mo’Nique, 52, has managed to keep the weight off since then. She credits her husband and her children for being her main motivation to start her weight-loss journey.
The comedy queen and her second husband, Sidney Hicks, 53, have been married since 2006 and share four children, including two older sons from her previous marriage.
The couple’s relationship caused mass controversy and fan uproar in 2006 when Mo’Nique announced in an Essence interview that the two were in an open relationship.
In 2016, the couple addressed their fans in a candid podcast, admitting that the arrangement resulted from Mo’Nique’s strong ego, but it had since been dissolved.
FILM INDUSTRY DISPUTES
The “The Parkers” star is, without a doubt, a film industry legend. Her performance in the movie “Precious” won her numerous awards. However, tensions followed between the actress and producer, Lee Daniels, with the star claiming that the producer had blackballed her from the industry because she didn’t thank him during her 2010 Oscars speech.
More recently, the actress started a campaign urging fans toboycott TV giant Netflix
after she felt the company offered to pay her less due to gender and color bias.
