Guy Pearce Has a Son with GOT Star Carice Van Houten — What Is Known about His Love Life?
Guy Pearce shares a son with Dutch actress Carice van Houten, best known to "Game Of Thrones" fans as Melisandre, the Red Priestess.
In 2016, Australian Guy Pearce and actress Carice van Houten welcomed their first child together, Monte Pearce, just a year after they had met on the set of the Western, "Brimstone."
The film coincidentally also starred Kit Harrington, who costarred with van Houten as Jon Snow in "Game Of Thrones." Van Houten, of course, was the beautiful but evil Red Woman who is somehow fighting on the side of Right.

A QUIET ROMANCE
From the word go, Pearce and van Houten worked hard to keep their relationship out of the headlines. The Australian actor had just recently divorced from his wife of 19 years, Kate Mestitz.
Pearce and Mestitz had met in their early teens, and their divorce and his subsequent involvement with van Houten came as a shock to the actor's fans, and he was showered with criticism.
Pearce paid tribute to his mother's wisdom and revealed that she is now suffering from Alzheimer's disease.
THE DIVORCE
It would be years before Pearce opened up about the true motive behind his divorce from Mestitz and revealed that he had not been unfaithful to her. He said:
“It’s funny, you know, I’ve spent the last couple of years trying to protect Kate in all of this. And particularly not saying that it was her decision to end our marriage."
BECOMING A FATHER
Van Houten's pregnancy opened the door to parenthood for Pearce, who had no children with his first wife. Little Monte's birth was announced by Pearce on Twitter, but the couple has never shared photos of their baby.
In fact, they have kept their personal life and their son out of the limelight and have rarely allowed fans glimpses into their family life through their social media accounts.
In a rare post, Pearce shared a collage of snaps of himself and van Houten taking their then-infant son for a walk in the park with their stroller. In the one snap that Monte is visible, only the back of his head is shown.
The Twitter post also showed snaps of Pearce and van Houten together, another rarity. As for van Houten, she hardly ever shares any post of a personal nature or photos with Pearce.
Pearce did hint at his close relationship with his son and their activities together when he posted a snap of a bike with a baby seat in the back, which he explained was for "the little chap."
Pearce refers to his son, now four years old, as his best friend. Sadly, the Australian actor lost his own father at the age of eight in an aviation accident and was raised by his mother.
In a moving post on Twitter in 2017, Pearce shared a photo of himself as a child with his mother and an inspirational poem she had given him: "If," by Rudyard Kipling.
In the post, Pearce paid tribute to his mother's wisdom and revealed that she is now suffering from Alzheimer's disease and sadly can no longer recognize him.
Pearce's family life is a sad collection of tragedies. He lost his father as a child, his mother is now suffering from Alzheimer's, and as he revealed, his sister Tracy suffers from a rare syndrome.
The actor explained that his sister has Cornelia de Lange syndrome, an extremely rare genetic condition that leaves its sufferers with physical and intellectual challenges.
After so much heartbreak and personal challenges, Pearce seems to have finally found happiness with his beautiful Carice van Houten and their little son.
