Teenage Girl Surprises Stepfather on His Birthday by Asking Him to Adopt Her

A teenage girl gave one of the most memorable gifts to a man whom she had known for fifteen years. Although they had lived together for as long as she could remember, Sarah asked her stepdad to adopt her when he turned 39.

The family is one of the most significant units ever made. While many believe that one must prioritize their biological family, the definition has improved over the years.

For Sarah, who asked her stepdad to adopt her on his birthday, the family status should not be acquired by blood alone but by those who stayed long enough to prove their undying love.

In 2017, the 17-year-old teenager from Rensselaer, Indiana, wanted to present her stepfather with a fantastic gift to mark his birthday. The young lady thought of something unique that could project her love for him — she wanted a man to call daddy, something she had never said.

SARAH'S UNBELIEVABLE REQUEST

On the day Sarah's stepdad, Vince VonTobel, turned 39, she gave him a gift wrapped in the traditional gift wrap. According to the teenager, the duo was seated in separate chairs, at arm's length, as the celebrant unwrapped the gift in a big box.

He did not imagine the content, and through his disposition, VonTobel was slightly put off by the glitter. However, this did not stop him from opening the present with the adoption papers.

The celebrant was overwhelmed, and he could not hide his emotions. He chuckled, and tears of joy rolled down his cheeks simultaneously. Sarah did not waste time in hugging her soon-to-be dad, then she said:

"I love you so much and there is no one else I would want to be my dad."

While speaking to a news outlet, she added that it was the first time she saw her stepdad cry and that it was exciting to witness his display of profound happiness. The young teen also had a message to share with the world. She told the

"I would like people to learn that blood doesn't have to mean anything. He means more to me than my actual biological father ever could."

VonTobel became Sarah's stepdad after he married her mom, Jessica. The duo met through a mutual friend, and it did not matter that Jessica had a 2-year-kid daughter. They hit it right off and have been inseparable since then, especially with Sarah.

VonTobel had mapped a plan for Sarah's adoption in the past, but it did not happen. The family had adopted another child, which took a long process. Two weeks after the additional family member was welcomed, fire engulfed their home and razed it to the ground.

This left Sarah in a poor mental state. She suffered from migraines, but her health was stabilized through constant support and love.
