Woman Takes in Son Born from Ex-husband's Affair, He Later Helps Pay For His Own Adoption
A woman gained something incredible from a difficult time in her life. However, financial constraints weighed heavy on her and almost prevented her from gaining a son.
Donnie Davis did not imagine that her ex-husband's affair would lead to something positive. She was devastated by the betrayal but managed to move on and find love again. The infidelity miraculously changed her life for the better.
Davis's former spouse could not care for Tristan, the son produced during his affair. The four-year-old was eventually removed from his mother's custody, and a year later, the youngster was brought to Davis.

THEY TOOK HIM IN
Along with her new husband Jimmy, they took over as Tristan's kinship guardians. It was a surprising turn of events, but Davis was immeasurably grateful and loved the boy unconditionally.
Davis surrounded Tristan with positive influences, and he matured into a caring youngster. In 2016, when the family started talking about officially adopting him as their son, they faced a few obstacles.
MAKING THINGS OFFICIAL
The main issue was a lack of financing for the adoption procedures and legal paperwork. Tristan was determined not to give up because he longed to become part of the Davis family.
Davis said:
"It means everything. He is absolutely our son. He is in our hearts. This is more for reassurance for him, knowing that he has his forever family and he has our name."
A PLAN TO RAISE THE MONEY
Tristan came up with a plan, and the results stunned everyone. The third-grader, who loves Math, set up a lemonade stand and provided his customers with a refreshing drink in return for a monetary donation.
He handled all of the work and effortlessly handed customers their change. Tristan was determined, and he shared: "[Donnie Davis] will be my parent. I'm happy because I have a new mom who loves me."
THEY RAISED MORE THAN ENOUGH MONEY
The family needed around $5,000 to cover all of the adoption fees and hoped the lemonade stand and a yard sale set up by Davis would assist. They never imagined that the story would gain widespread coverage and attract many customers.
The family raised a total of $14,000! They stated that the leftover money would go towards Tristan's education and were thankful for the support. Davis expressed:
“There are not enough words to say 'thank you' to everyone who has shown support or given us donations. Everyone has made this possible. We will make sure this child will forever be ours.”
ANOTHER YOUNGSTER'S LEMONADE STAND RAISED MONEY
Children try to help their parents when possible, and one young girl in Alabama set up a lemonade stand to cover her medical bills. Liza needed brain surgery, but her mom, Elizabeth Scott, did not have the finances for the complicated procedure.
Thankfully, Liza's efforts to help her mom touched many hearts. Last year they raised around $15,000 and received close to $300,000 from a Mighty Cause online page. The family was thrilled by the support, and Liza could have her operation.
Money made from a lemonade stand may seem like a drop in the bucket, but for Liza and Tristan, it was just what they needed. It raised awareness about their needs and helped them reach their respective goals abundantly.
