A woman who found out that her longtime friend was sleeping with her husband decided to leave her wedding dress and a scornful note at her doorstep that the mistress will most likely never forget.

Love is a beautiful feeling, but sometimes, it fades away, and those involved start to seek fulfillment elsewhere. When Karen Dineen married Terry Lovell, she thought their fairy tale would last forever until she found proof of his adultery.

Dineen and Lovell's marriage had lasted almost two decades, but before they got married, she had been mates with an art teacher named Carol and her husband. They socialized together even after her marriage, and the couple's kids were also friends with Carol's children.

A SNEAKING SUSPICION

Dineen started suspecting that Carol and Lovell had become too close when she discovered receipts that revealed that her husband had purchased two bottles of an identical perfume but had only given her one.

For months, she kept having that sneaking suspicion that all was not as it seemed; then, one day, she gained access to her husband's phone. In it, she found a series of raunchy texts between him and Carol, including one that read:

"I can't believe last night; it was wonderful."

THEY EVEN HAD NICKNAMES FOR ONE ANOTHER

The messages also revealed that the pair had even come up with corny nicknames; Carol called him "huggy-bear."

Then, one day, Lovell called his mobile phone from the house phone, and when Dineen answered it, she called him the same nickname and said:

He replied with a "no" because he had no idea that Dineen had access to his phone. Believing she did not have proof, he tried to weasel out of it, but the damage had already been done, and Dineen was done.

A betrayed Dineen threw her husband out and decided to move on by buying a pet Chihuahua who she said was more hygienic, "loyal, and faithful."

HER PERFECT REVENGE

While she was clearing out their home, Dineen found her wedding dress and decided that she was better off donating it to Carol, but she also added a sarcastic note that read:

"Hey Carol, I know you love secondhand goods, so thought you might like the dress I wore when I married your boyfriend. Love, Karen xx."

Dineen took the strapless cream gown to Carol's home in Essex and left it hanging on her porch after slipping the note through the front door.

According to the betrayed woman, it would have been better if her husband, whom she called the "spawn of the devil," confessed that he had fallen out of love with her and wanted out rather than messing around with a woman she had known for about 25 years.

Of course, his confession would have shocked her, but she said it would not have shocked her as much as what he ended up doing. She said:

"They were my friends, and when I met Terry, Carol's husband became friends with him. It's vile."

At the time the story went live on the internet in 2019, Dineen believed the pair were still together. She also said slipping that letter through the front door had her shaking with excitement because she knew there was little they could do about it.

Dineen's love for Lovell had wilted as soon as she saw the texts between the cheating pair, and she had gotten over the betrayal.

Not only was the cheating between her then-husband and longtime friend, but the neighbors, as well as their other friends, had also all been in on it.

Users who read about the story on Facebook had varying opinions but most were in support of Dineen’s action. One user tagged what she did as “brilliant”, a few said "Love it!" while another chastised her, saying:

“I feel for the new woman, obviously they split up for a reason, go gracefully and show you’re bigger than that.”

What do you think of what she did? Was it justified, or should she have taken her loss in peace?
