In February 2022, a woman took to Reddit's incredibly popular "AITA Forum" and related a story that had become a personal dilemma for her. The Original Poster, 50, started by stating that she and her husband, 51, had been married for 21 years.

When he told her he wouldn't give the cat away, OP was said to have given an ultimatum to her husband.

She said her husband divorced his first wife, who was pregnant then, to be with her. After marriage, OP and her husband started a family and became parents to a baby girl, Sasha. Per OP, her husband also had a daughter from his first marriage, Kristen.

A LIFE-ALTERING DECISION

The woman claimed that when she gave birth to Sasha, her husband was cheating on her, so she forbid him from seeing their daughter. Consequently, the man was said to have missed his girl's early years, but OP said she didn't know that her decision would change everything one day.

According to OP, her husband didn't treat his two daughters ─ Kristen, 21, and Sasha, 18, the same way. She mentioned that Kristen was her husband's first priority, and he was always ready to drop everything for her sake. She added:

"He pays for Sasha’s education but she just isn’t his priority. He always talks about Kristen, it’s always about her. Sasha feels it and it hurts her."

OP said she was sure Kristen hated her for ruining her parents' marriage. She noted how Kristen did things to rile her up, including calling her husband five times a day and late at night when she knew he was with her.

The woman revealed that her husband spent a week every month with his first daughter in his apartment, whereas he never liked being with her and Sasha so much, even though they lived together.

DISCOVERING HER HUSBAND'S WILL

Per OP, convincing her husband to watch a movie with his family was nothing less than a victory. But what deeply upset her was when she discovered her husband's will. She shared:

"Recently I learned that my husband left everything to Kristen in his will. She gets an apartment, his WW2 collection when Sasha gets just one room in an old hostel building!"

The woman narrated that Kristen, who already had three cats, said she found another cat who was thrown away and had nowhere to go. Because she didn't have a place to keep one more, OP said that her husband's first daughter convinced him to keep the cat in his flat.

THE CAT THAT WOULDN'T GO AWAY

OP claimed it was all part of Kristen's plan, which she had orchestrated to keep her father away from his wife and second daughter. She noted that her husband's time was spent feeding and watching the cat. She expressed:

"Kristen does it when he’s not there, but now he has a reason to spend more time in his flat, and he keeps doing it. Kristen knew it would be like this, she did this on purpose."

When she couldn't take it anymore, OP said she confronted her husband and asked him to give the cat away. Her husband told her he would give it a thought, but the woman said he went and consulted Kristen, who became angry and stopped talking to him.

SHE GAVE HIM AN ULTIMATUM

The woman recalled that her husband stayed up all night, writing apologies to Kristen. When he told her he wouldn't give the cat away, OP was said to have given an ultimatum to her husband. She recounted:

"I finally had enough and I told him to pick between Kristen and Sasha. He can’t have two relationships at once and if he cares about Sasha he has to prove it and pick her at least this once."

However, OP added that her husband didn't give her an answer and his silence only fueled her anger. She said she knew he loved Kristen, but she hoped that the idea of not being able to see Sasha would make him realize he also had another daughter who needed his love.

The Reddit post garnered over 9,000 reactions and more than 3,000 comments. Many people criticized OP and told her she was responsible for everything that had gone wrong. One person wrote:
