The Curls

Jeff and Bettina Curl tied the knot in January 2008. After marriage, they moved to Germany, where Jeff joined the Air Force as a Military Police Officer. They stayed in Germany for four years, during which time they began trying to have children and start a family.

But nobody knew that he had only a short time to spend with his loving family.

But despite their best efforts to get pregnant, nothing seemed to work. When the couple sought medical help, the doctors said nothing was wrong, and they simply hadn't tried for long.

Undergoing Treatment

The Curls returned to the United States in 2012. After moving back, Jeff and Bettina got settled, found work, resumed schooling, and decided to take a break from doctor's appointments.

Two years later, in 2014, they started seeing specialists again to get to the root cause of their infertility.

From 2011 to 2014, Bettina had reportedly been through numerous ultrasounds, dye tests, four IUI procedures, and extensive tests. She and Jeff had spent over $6,000 on medical procedures, but all in vain.

Eager to Embrace Parenthood

In February 2017, Jeff and Bettina's good friends, Georgia and Jamie, created a GoFundMe account to support the couple in their journey to IVF. A part of the post on the popular crowdfunding page read:

"A baby would be so lucky to have Jeff and Bettina as parents. This is evident to anyone who can see them with their nephews, Mason and Myles, and with Bettina's 500 students at school."

Over $4,500 was raised through the fundraising account. Meanwhile, the Curls continued their IVF treatment with the support of their family and friends.

Finally, in February 2018, the couple's struggles came to fruition when they welcomed their first child — a baby boy — Arlo Jaxon. Suddenly, everything fell into place beautifully, and Jeff and Bettina were over the moon.

Celebrating Four Lovely Years

The couple's hearts beamed with joy and pride, and they showered little Jaxon with tender love, care, and affection. The little man turned four in February 2022, and his mom wrote a lovely wish for him:

"Our sweet boy, Arlo is four today. I hope the passion for life and adventure you have never fades. We are so excited for what this next year brings for you. Your mom and dad love you so much."

n January 2022, Bettina and Jeff celebrated their fourteenth wedding anniversary

as loving partners and doting parents. Since becoming parents to Jaxon, the duo had also received two new adorable additions to their family.

Two Adorable Additions

Anders and Amelia Curl arrived in a home with devoted parents, a protective elder brother, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents.

However, baby Anders had to stay in the NICU for some time before being able to join his family. Undoubtedly, the little munchkin was a fighter from the start and was able to survive the unlikely strokes of fate with a smiling face.

A Heart-Rending Incident

But nobody knew that he had only a short time to spend with his loving family. The Curls were all set to ring in their twins' first birthday when a gut-wrenching tragedy deprived them of their joy and left a gaping hole in their hearts.

According to a GoFundMe account created by Bettina's friend and teaching partner, Chelsey Evans, little Anders passed away at the age of 11 months after an incident at his daycare.

Gone Too Soon

Anders would have turned one year old alongside his twin sister, Amelia, in late September 2022. The crowdfunding page read:

"Both Jeff and Bettina are incredible parents and are now left with the tragic reality of how to move forward raising their two children while finding a way to maintain an income."

Forever in Our Hearts

As of September 6, over $46,000 have been raised of the $50,000 goal, and more donations continue to pour in. Bettina's friend, Evans, urged people to respect the couple's privacy and allow them to grieve in their challenging time.

Our hearts go out to the grief-stricken parents, young Jaxon and baby Amelia, who lost their ray of sunshine and beloved sibling. May God grant strength to the Curls to bear their lovely son's irreparable loss.

Rest in eternal peace, little boy, and fly high with the angels. You will forever be loved and cherished by your beautiful family. Please keep the bereaved family in your heartfelt prayers.
