Guraish Aldjufrie Is Kyle Richards' First Husband & They Remained on Good Terms after Divorce

Kyle Richards is a regular instigator of drama on Bravo's "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" (RHOBH), but it is rarely related to her husband of over twenty years, Mauricio Umansky. However, the reality star's first attempt at marital bliss was less successful.

As a teenager, Kyle Richards became a wife and mother and was divorced by 22. The breakdown of her first marriage to Indonesian tycoon Guraish Aldjufrie started two years into the union. In hindsight, the actress realized she was not ready for the role of a wife.

She remains close to Aldjufrie as they co-parent their daughter. The two fathers of her children are friends and occasional business partners. The actress has three daughters and fur babies with her second husband.

Guraish Aldjufrie Is a Real-Estate Tycoon

Aldjufrie was born into a wealthy Indonesian family with Dutch and Arabic ancestry. When he met an 18-year-old Richards at a Tina Turner show, his English was still very rusty; the Real Housewife remembers how he had to summon the courage in his language ability to ask her out.

Their daughter has significantly benefitted from the unconventional setup.

Aldjufrie works in land development and commercial real estate and resides in Bali, Indonesia. The tycoon only has one known child and did not remarry after the divorce. His ex addressed rumors that he is of royal descent, a fallacy she believes stems from his "reserved and sweet" nature.

The actress married her first husband when she was 18, in 1988. Their only child, Farrah, was born a few months later. She has spoken about her first marriage on RHOBH and said in a confessional:

"My ex-husband and I genuinely really care about each other, and just because we got divorced young, that never went away. And we both always put Farrah first."

She confessed to Heather McDonald on the "Juicy Scoop" podcast that being a wife at such a young age was challenging. The couple split in 1990, and the divorce was finalized two years later.

Relationship With Daughter Farrah

The tycoon is close to his daughter Farrah Brittany and regularly visits her in Los Angeles, taking her to restaurants and hanging out. She spoke to The Daily Dish about their incredible family dynamics:

"It funny 'cause I'm an only child at one house [with Aldjufrie], and then I have this huge family at this other house [with her mom and younger sisters], so it's kind of the best of both worlds. There's no real separation or divide."

She often posts about her dad on Instagram and calls him her twin. On his birthday, she celebrated their bond and described him as caring, loving, and kind. She thanked him for "guiding her through life" and punctuated the post with the hashtag "lucky me."

The exes remained close and often spent Christmas and Thanksgiving as a family. Their daughter has significantly benefitted from the unconventional setup.

Farrah told The Daily Dish that her mother and stepfather are good friends with Aldjufrie:

"I always say I have two dads; they both raised me. They both get along amazingly. They've done deals together. My dad refers clients to Mauricio."

Aldjufrie appeared in the season three finale of RHOBH in 2013 and made another cameo when Farrah graduated from college in 2011. His importance in Kyle Richards' life is also highlighted in archival footage, most recently in the season 12 episode "Ship-Faced."

Richards still loves her first husband and told her cast mates that she felt terrible that he did not remarry because "he's such a good guy."
