Scott originates from Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, where he met Taylor's mom, Andrea. They married in 1988 and welcomed Taylor the year after and her brother, Austin, in 1992. Scott said he noticed Taylor's passion for singing as a toddler.

Meet Scott Kingsley Swift, Taylor Swift's Dad
Scott was born on March 5, 1952. He enrolled at the University of Delaware and graduated in 1974. He became a stockbroker and started the Swift Group, part of Merrill Lynch, where he had worked for over twenty years.
Scott realized his daughter's talent for writing when she was 13. She was assigned a two-sentence essay assignment but handed in a two-page composition. Scott and Taylor's teachers knew they had a special kid on their hands. Scott said:
"We had a kid that was really passionate about it, and when she was 13, she got a development deal at RCA. That was the confirmation that maybe she wasn't crazy because her writing is why she got it."
Fast forward a few years, Scott made his acting debut in his daughter's music video for her hit song "The Man." Scott was not only proud of his daughter, but her fame also helped him stay connected with old friends, which in turn helped the singer with her career.

"I knew I was the reason they were moving. But they tried to put no pressure on me. They were like, 'Well, we need a change of scenery anyway,' and 'I love how friendly the people in Tennessee are.'"
