Jane Musky met her long-time husband, Tony Goldwyn, through their mutual friend, who was once "obsessed with her." Although the couple is considered Hollywood royalty, having produced quality work for decades, they live quite a modest life with their children.

New Jersey native Jane Musky is an accomplished and multi-nominated art director and production designer, married to an actor from a multigenerational showbiz family, Tony Goldwyn. She met the "Scandal" star when they were in their 20s and Tony was in college.

The couple welcomed two daughters, Anna Musky-Goldwyn and Tess Frances Goldwyn, whom they intentionally raised outside the Hollywood spotlight. And the friend through whom they met became their first daughter's godfather.

Like Jane and Tony, Anna and Tess joined the entertainment industry as actresses and writers. However, as her titles suggest, Jane preferred working behind the scenes. She once helped her husband secure a leading role in a '90s film alongside Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze a few years after marrying.

Jane Musky's Work as a Production Designer and Art Director

Jane is best known for her work in the 1989 film "When Harry Met Sally," a comedy-drama about two long-time friends reluctant to take the plunge into sexual intimacy. She also served as a production designer in the 1992 crime thriller "Glengarry Glen Ross," starring Alec Baldwin and Diane Keaton's ex Al Pacino.

Some of her most recent work includes the 2018 romantic comedy "The Seagull," set in the twentieth century and about an aging actress who visits her older brother's home with her lover. The film stars Annette Bening, Glen Fleshler, and Academy Award nominee Saoirse Ronan.

Jane's work in "The Seagull" earned her a Chlotrudis Award nomination for Best Production Design in 2019. Although she didn't win, it wasn't the first time her work received such a prestigious nod.

That same year, Jane was nominated for an Art Directors Guild Award for the 80s series, "Murphy Brown," which ended in 2018. She would have shared it with her colleagues, including set decorator Lynn Tonneson and art director Casey Smith. Sadly, the team didn't win that one either.

In 1985, 68-year-old – born May 27, 1954, in Maplewood – earned her first and only Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Achievement in Art Direction/Set Decoration/Scenic Design for her work in the 1980s-90s CBS show "Schoolbreak Special."

Tony Was His Friend's Wingman When He Met Jane, but Something Went Wrong

Tony met his wife through his college best friend – who remained close to the actor and even became Anna's godfather – when Tony was 21. The said friend had invited Tony on a jog he planned to take with this girl he was obsessed with: Jane.

The three embarked on the jog and stumbled upon a pond, where they decided to take a swim. However, Tony's buddy was reluctant to join them "because there were living things" in the water. They went on more runs together until the friend eventually stopped joining them, allowing Jane and Tony's romance to flourish; the rest is history.

Tony Goldwyn and Jane Musky Have Been Married for 35 Years

The couple tied the knot on April 18, 1987. A few years into their union, Jane helped Tony secure a lead role in the 1990 film "Ghost." From the day he first met Jane, Tony was convinced she was the one, as he recalled:

"I knew when I was 21 when I met her that I'd better hang on, because I'll never come across this again."

When it came to maintaining their relationship, Tony said they had a mutual determination to move through their rough patches together; it helped work out their dynamic as a couple. He also added that he had immense respect for Jane, and it's what kept him interested in her as a person for all those years.

Anna became a screenwriter and a fitness enthusiast. She sometimes worked as a triathlete and instructor for The Sun Cycle: Cycling on the Beach and is currently the host of the "Political Playlist Happy Hour" podcast.

Her younger sister, Tess, is an actress, writer, and director known for 2020's "Red Flags" and 2021's "but I'm here too." Jane and Tony preferred to raise their children away from the ails of Hollywood. The couple always did their best to ensure that Anna and Tess understood they were the center of their worlds.
